Why can't you just be grateful that someone took the time to look at your work and add it to their Favorites? They don't owe you a comment; there's no requirements or obligations to viewing artwork on this website.Maybe that person just likes to collect good art to look at? Or, maybe that person is just a mindless "fave whore" drone. Either way, who cares? Be the bigger person

The way some people overreact to this is really stupid.
I like my comments, and yeah I do get a little annoyed when everyone and their
grandmother faves without commenting, but I'm not going to go and be like fuck you to them.
If they fave like, almost half my gallery I may be like 'thank you - what did you like about my gallery to them' because I'm curious.

I get this vibe from some people. Really. Only fave if you comment. Oh, and it has to be a good comment. Not just something generic (never mind I already have 100 comments on it, and you probably can't come up with something clever that hasn't been said 10 times already) and not something personal, because it's supposed to be about the art, and woe on you if you say it reminds you of something else. I could make a list, here.
Comments are nice, when they're spontaneous and earnest. Forced, awkward comments for the sake of commenting are not nice. 'Nuff said. Nobody on here is my personal paid art critic and I'm not theirs. Like someone so eloquently and concisely put it, sometimes you just don't have anything to say, no matter how impressed / moved you were by a piece of art. And if you have it in your favorites, you can go back if and when you do have something to say.
Bravo, dA, for enforcing the pressure with those doggone "don't forget to comment" boxes. Now I have to put "it's okay to fav + run" stamps on everything. Glorious.

It's not like you can report people or block them from your galleries or anything because, god forbid, they didn't comment.
Seriously, I only ever comment on art if there's something particularly striking that deserves praise for skill, creativity, etc...if an image doesn't speak to me, I won't "speak" to it...XP

There are so many reasons I don't always comment! Sometimes I just don't have anything to say. Nothing original anyway. I'd rather, you know... live my life than spend the rest of the day coming up with a comment worth reading.

I'm sick and tired of all these people, whining about how they get a million favourites and no comments. I'm happy when I even see that people have lOOKED at my stuff.
To be quite honest, if they want actual comments, they're better off going somewhere else. DeviantART is not the right place to get a large amount of helpful comments. And if they just want comments that kiss their ass... it's still better for them (and everyone else) to go to another website.
Anyways, tl;dr over. In summary: Love the stamp, couldn't have been made better.

I really enjoyed the colors you used for the text as well as the increasingly ridiculousness of the comments. Totally awesome. I also liked that you used a really clear and easy to read font. Even better.
Not to mention the fact that I totally agree with you. I love every time I get a favorite. There are times where I don't necessarily have enough time to comment and thank everyone for the fav, but I am always grateful. Seeing a fav on my work tells me that someone somewhere out there likes my art and it's really encouraging.

I love that I hate faves stamp. Dude wrote a novel on why people should do his bidding. I love how he thinks people should spend two minutes of their time per piece of art they view to think about a meaningful comment. I love how deluded he is; he's actually mad that he logs on and sees a ton of +fav messages. The best part is that the majority of his gallery is just bullshit like stamps and motivational posters. And to top it off, when he does get a meaningful comment from someone, all he has to say in response is, "Thank you."
It's like someone offering you a sandwich. Then you bitch them out for not cutting the crust off but you eat it anyways. It's just the world we live in.

IKR! And I can't believe he went on and on about how dA should make it where you HAVE to leave a comment before you can favorite. That's just ridiculous. He suggested just bookmarking the image and coming back when you have a meaningful comment. He obviously doesn't know that half the people who bookmark something usually bookmark a bunch of other somethings and would therefore NEVER end up leaving a decent enough comment to leave an actual favorite. I still can't believe I was masochist enough to sit there and read the entire description. I should've just stopped after the first couple of lines like I did when I first saw the stamp. AUGH.
And I can't believe he doesn't give more umph to his own replies. I hate giving simple "thank you" comments, but if I got as many comments as I did favorites then I'd end up living at my computer desk instead of merely checking my dA before checking emails and moving on. And yes, I check my dA before I check my emails. XD

exactly! i fave so i can come back and look at it another time, if i have thoughts on the piece then ill comment because otherwise i dont know what to say that isn't totally obvious(and therefor pointless stupid and redundant) from my faving of the pic
also for the whole"but i like that you take the time to comment" argument, they should appreciate that the person took the time to fave it, as in they'll want to look at it agin, which i would find much more flattering than just that my pic took a little bit more time out of someones life

I used to get mad when people faved without commenting, but then I thought for a while about it and realized, hey, a fave is just as good as an "I really like this." Also, what if the person doesn't know your language, or just can't think of anything to say? Or maybe they realize you're a jerk and don't reply to comments, anyway.
