Description I don't know WHY it took me so long to decide to vector the greatest member of the Apple Family.
"Welcome to AAAAAAAAAAAppleloosa!"
He is also the greatest secondary character in the show, and I will politely ignore arguments that say otherwise XD

You're welcome! GLaD I made you smile. Smiles are like the dollars of friendship. If you can make someone smile when they're feeling a bit down, you get payed with tokens of friendship... I think I'll call them bits from now on.

A less than happy day? It probably has something to do with the Veggie55 hiatus, right? If it is, then we're both in the same boat.

XD Nice try. She is my favorite ruler (SINCE NIGHT IS BEST TIME OF DAY!!), but best pony is Derpy. My avatar pic just reminded me of Avatar. Not the movie, the show.

laberoon In reply to AkiraHazami [2012-08-26 20:51:01 +0000 UTC]

The movie was rubbish! The show was alright though (although I've only seen occasional episodes)
Derpy is on my "to Vector" list... but then again, I'm very easily distracted

AkiraHazami In reply to laberoon [2012-08-26 21:17:17 +0000 UTC]

I was (and still am) a huge fan of Avatar, but I couldn't finish the movie. They got so many things wrong, and I will never forgive them for it. How hard is it to pronounce Sokka and Aang?! I don't really understand Sokka, but Aang rhymes with boomerang!! BOOMERANG!! You can't even get it wrong if you're Japanese! And Zuko... The hair was totally off. He had a bald head with a ponytail during the first season! But, as Sokka says in "The Ember Island Players", a.k.a., a funnier version of the accursed movie, "The effects were decent."

Don't worry. You're not alone. I start working on something, then get distracted by another. I was working on a Bleach fanfic, then was distracted by a Doctor Who fanfic last night XD Go figure. Death gods one day, Timelords the next.

My apologies, but I must respectfully disagree on the "best secondary character" matter.

It is my humble and honest opinion that Lyra Heartstrings holds exclusive claim to that title.

However, since you said you'd politely ignore such arguments on the matter, I'd like to open this matter up to discussion. I'd like to know fir just which reasons you chose Braeburn as the holder of the "best secondary character" title.

Perhaps you'll persuade me. Perhaps not.

I'm simply looking for, as Alanis Morisette put it, intellecutal intercourse.

Norman-Steel In reply to Drewdini [2012-08-24 03:03:52 +0000 UTC]

Lyra is the best background pony. She is not, however, a secondary character.

Drewdini In reply to Norman-Steel [2012-08-24 14:17:59 +0000 UTC]

...Good point.

Okay, so Lyra is best background character. Secondary character...? Spike.

laberoon In reply to Drewdini [2012-08-23 02:00:52 +0000 UTC]

You have drawn me into discussion with your eloquent words my friend...

I like Braeburns outlook on life. He's happy-go-lucky, laid back, and yet clearly still hard working and dedicated. He's also willing to listen to others when required (unlike a couple of mares who shall remain nameless). Not to mention he has an awesome hat.

Now I shall agree that Lyra is awesome, but there isn't enough of a Canon personality for her to be judged as more than a background pony who was fortunate enough to get a line of dialogue, and some hilarious poses/actions in the background.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Drewdini In reply to laberoon [2012-08-23 02:27:49 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough, fair enough.

I will agree that Braeburn manages constantly to uphold an air of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, but I see that as nothing more than a front he puts on for the tourist ponies.

Perhaps nothing more is a little strong, however. As, thinking back on the episode that featured the stallion, he was willing--and happy--to settle the buffalo/settler pony disputes peacefully.

In my eye, however, Braeburn came across as simply obnoxious. Granted, most of it was part of his "Greeting the tourist-ponies" routine, but that took up a majority of his appearance in the episode and left a poor first impression on me.

As for Lyra, I will also agree that there's really not a lot for her outside of what the fandom created for her, but for the most part, these fan ideas were all based on what we've seen of her in the series, and I can't help feeling there's some semblance of canon to these multitudes of fan-theories, however miniscule. (Wow. Was that all one sentence?)

Now true, I'm mainly enjoying Lyra for what the fandom has, and I have (he sheepishly admitted) made her out to be. That, however, in my humble opinion, is more valuable than the positive traits I can find in the canon Braeburn.

Oh, and I tend to have that effect on people.

laberoon In reply to Drewdini [2012-08-23 18:09:32 +0000 UTC]

I don't think his cheerful nature is a show for the tourists. Honestly I wonder how many tourists you'd actually get to a small town in the middle of the desert.

I will have to disagree entirely with your conclusion of the stallion being obnoxious, however. While his personality is indeed very forward, and he spends a lot of his opening scene showing the group around Appleloosa, I think that's more to do with his pride at being part of the group that set up the community.

In fact, if he were obnoxious, I doubt he'd have been so willing to listen to Little Stronghearts reasoning for why the apple orchard requires relocating.

Now for Lyra. Lyra is, I can safely say, the most prolific background pony of all of them. The fanon character has more depth and backstory than some canon characters (but that's a debate for another day).

I shall finish by conceding that, if fanon were to be taken into account... Lyra would probably hold the crown by a long shot. However, based purely on the canon characterizations of the two (or lack of, in Lyras case), Braeburn still holds the title, for me at least.

(Now I'm late to a staff chat on Zap Apple Acres, thanks to you XD)

I get the feeling neither of us is going to be able to change the mind of the other.

In my opinion, Braeburn is obnoxious. In yours, he's not.

Though I think we're both able to agree here that the only reason I like Lyra so much is because of what fanon has created her to be.

As for canon characterization, I'd have to agree that Braeburn outmeasures Lyra by a long shot. Still doesn't mean I gotta like him.

(Well shoot. You can't blame me if you're the one who took so long to type that. )

(so many tongues...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

laberoon In reply to Drewdini [2012-08-23 19:52:37 +0000 UTC]

...That is a lot of tongues...

I also think we've reached an impasse with regards to Braeburn, so I guess we'll just agree to disagree

I'm not saying I dislike Lyra, by the way, and her fanon character is one of my all time favourites, so we can agree there as well.

(And I can blame anyone I want )
