Description

The Reglib were a rodent-like mammalian species that evolved on the planet Basserich. Despite the average height being only about 2.5 feet tall, the species is marked for their overwhelming violence and sadism. Basserich is a harsh world with ever changing terrain, as such the Reglib evolved to be versatile survivors. Despite being short, their arms are well muscled and can help them move at great speeds. They have one of the shortest lifespans among the galaxies sapients at 20 standard years, so their culture never developed much in the way of sciences and medicine. Instead, they learned more toward the side of warfare, developing weapons to give themselves an edge in competition. Evolutionary-wise their species selected for more sociopathic tendencies. They reproduce quickly with a single female able birth up to 50 offspring in a single year. In Society males form tribes with one another, but they won’t cooperate until one particular male establishes dominance, and he must be willing to constantly defend their status, the Reglib do this out of necessity to prevent other tribes from wiping them out. Due to males constantly killing themselves in battle there is a large number of female Reglib, each adult male has their own harem within tribe. The females are just as vicious as the males and will also fight and hunt, and if their mate is kill in battle they will immediately join the harem of the victor. The only form of caring Reglib seem to inhibit is between mother and her children and that only lasts for 4 months in which they are fully grown, after which the mother will see them as more competition and chase them off.
            Despite being primitive and savage the species managed to become a blight across the galaxy. No one knows how the Reglib managed to achieve space flight, the running theory is that a derelict spaceship from some unknown species crash landed on Basserich, while the Reglib were still in their bronze age. This discovery supercharged their technological development, unfortunately leaving their cultural development unchanged. It took only a few hundred years before they started traveling to other world and enslaving the species like the Belian, the peak of their conquest was the destruction of the Elasmos homeworld Xixitt.
            The Chialiong took notice and began their plan neutralizing the species. They kidnapped an entire troop transport ship of Reglib, and began to change them of on a genetic level. These new species were dubbed Proglib, they were bigger, stronger, smarter, and longer living than their former species and more importantly had a wider array. Brainwashed and reeducated to fit the needs of a greater galaxy the Chialiong sent them back to Basserich. The Proglib wasted no time usurping power from the Reglib, dueling and defeating all the males, and then breeding with the females to produce more Proglib.

            One of the first thing the Proglib did was take control of the Reglib communication arrays. From there they were able to direct the entire off planet fleet into destructive positions. Some were lead to Chialiong abduction points were even more Proglib, others were simply bombed until oblivion. Reglib were systematically obliterated until only the Proglib remained. When the war was over the Proglib swore fealty to the Chialiong. Though they remain a large presence in galactic affairs they still face many stigmas for what their ancestors did, with species like the Belian and Elasmos outright shunning them from their territories.
