Description It has come to my attention that the best concept that intrigues me in pretty much every aspect of my life (even video games), is the one of the 4 elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air.

So, here is a, somewhat different, papier cole I made, depicting the best representations I ever saw for them: 4 Elemental Fiends, each being a complete master over it. Final Fantasy 1 and 4 have tapped cleverly in this concept, adding me one more reason for loving these games. To make the image more solid, I added he final bosses of said games because I think they deserve to be along the Fiends, for obvious reasons.

Also, it is my first papier cole where I finally use a proper backround. Seasoned fans of a game series I utterly adore will know where it's coming from.

Fun fact: The concept of these 4 elements has first started from ancient Greece times. In fact, every other form of that concept, that exists in other cultures (chinese, japanese ones etc.) is a variation of the ancient Greek one. Greek scientists of that time had a strong belief that pretty much every object on Planet Earth was in some way comprised from a bit of each of these 4 elements, since they are the 4 most iconic aspects of our planet (think about it: 70% of Earth is Water, the rest 30% is Earth. every living organism needs Air to survive, while the planet itself needs Fire to "live"). Unknown to many is a small "sidebranch" to this whole ancient belief (which is also seen in the other cultures as well, in it's own different style): Objects outside Earth, like the stars, were associated with a fifth element known as Aether. This was due to "fire, earth, air, and water being earthly and corruptible. Since no changes had been perceived in the heavenly regions, the stars cannot be made out of any of the four elements but must be made of a different, unchangeable, heavenly substance". Aristotle was the one who added Aether at the center of the element 'party'.

For GS fans, this chart can explain any questions you might have had as of why Golden Sun uses the specific element resistances it had for all 4 elements: [link]

Element fever, baby!!! Woohoo!
I love stuff like these. Enjoy.

Actually, Golden Sun doesn't follow that chart. Air is listed as a Warm element in classical greek elements, while in GS it's a cool element instead. Effectively speaking, Venus and Jupiter swap places on that axis. This also means that in terms of the seasons, Jupiter and Venus again switch - Venus is Spring and Jupiter is Fall, while the classical elements had it the other way around.

Furthermore, GS had variable weaknesses. Flying foes tended to be weakest to Jupiter, but varied by how much they were weak to it. Furry animals and sea-creatures tended to be weak to Mars, desert and fire based foes tended to be weak to Mercury, and pretty much only undead were weak to Venus. Again, all with varying degrees of resistance.

Simply put, each creature, even the PCs, have four elemental resistance stats. Values less than 100 were considered weaknesses, and values greater than 100 were considered resistances. I could go on all day about this, but I'm sure you get the picture - basically, in GS, Element A isn't weak to Element B - they're done individually instead.

The two best examples are PCs and Birds.

PC characters are not weak to their opposing element - they're weak to the symbiotic element instead.
Birds are very strong in Jupiter, but also very weak to it.

So... yeah, I hate to be a spoilsport, but given that I'm the local mechanics girl over at GSAR, that statement near the end looked really... well, off.

My God, hey Role! How have you been? Long time no see.
Wow, one wall of a comment here. XD

Frankly, Role, all this was not a spoilsport XD. Rather, it was the exact reaction that I hoped this chart would spark. And to be honest, the part with the resistances questions fans might had was a rhetorical one. I mostly throwed it there for informative reasons which, btw, you menaged to properly nail down. I like that.

And I really liked your comment in general. Thorough and to the point.
It's good to see you again Role. Will also watch you post haste.

All right, a giant bizarre space bug is frightening enough, but what I'm really interested in knowing is exactly what kind of chaos spawned Chaos' kneecap faces and stomach-snake demon head?

Perhaps it's best for our poor souls and minds to not divulge in this matter anymore. XD
