Miranda liked to pretend she was some ninja assassin, going so far as to order magic blades to complete the fantasy. We took turns being the other’s target, with the “survivor” keeping the dismembered parts for a few days as their reward. We both went a day or two without an arm or a leg before, and she had cut me in half on one occasion (keeping everything below the waist), but today was a first. I managed to dodge her attack and countered with a slash through her neck. Miranda’s head spun in the air and rolled across the room. Her decapitated body dropped her weapon. She reached into the empty air above her stump in disbelief. As she began stumbling blindly, I retrieved my prize - her head. Since she kept my lower half for four days, I deserved to keep her headless for at least that long, right?
