Maybe her fear comes from clown shrimps. After all, she's a marine creature.
For those of you who don't know, clown shrimps, also known as mantis shrimps, are shrimps that can strike with the acceleration of a twenty two caliber bullet and force of one thousand five hundred newtons. And, like regular clowns, they have a psychopathic killing instinct and will hunt down and eat anything small enough for them to kill. They also have a very complex eye which can detect twelve colors, nine more than the human eye can. The clown shrimp is very colorful but looks like an idiot, which draws another connection with the modern clown.
So, if you're afraid of clowns, stay afraid. Stay very afraid!
