Description
Tada!! It's all finished now, yaaay! I may still add some beads n' stuff, but in general, it's done! I got to show it off on Sept 30 to the Michigan Ren Fest (on the day I traditionally celebrate my b-day), and it was such a hit! I hadn't finished the sleeves until midway through the day though, so I was literally sitting in a shop handsewing the sleeves together :b Anywho, details!Fabrics: Red cotton velveteen, red/black/antique gold tapestry, red cotton broadcloth, gold metallic trim
Beads: 1/4 inch pearls, red bugle beads (in 2 sizes), seed pearls, gold seed beads
The ensemble is made up of the beaded tapestry forepart sewn to red broadcloth panels making up the rest of the underskirt, a knife-pleated velveteen overskirt with wide gold trim, a side-lacing bodice (that I need to either fix or replace, but most likely replace) lined with broadcloth and boned at the side seams with 1/2 inch cable ties, and velveteen oversleeves made up of 4 panels beaded together with pearls and attached to the shoulders with gold and black rose (cameo styled) buttons. The hat [link] was made from the same written pattern used by the Queen's guards at MRF (it's fully lined and made up of 6 pieces). I designed the patterns for the bodice and sleeves, followed written instructions (sent by my friend Kathy [link] ) to make the overskirt, and used pattern #4090 (I think...I can't remember right now) for the underskirt.
I have enough velveteen to make myself a new bodice and another pair of sleeves

This is so delightful ^_^ I love beading and bead embroidery, and you really enhanced the brocade pattern here. The colors work very well together.
The sleaves and all the littel bits of shiny make me so happy ^_^
That's actually the same kind of trim I used on my own red dress ^^, I promice to get it fixed enough to wear, and make people take pictures of me to put up.

About a week for the overskirt (only cuz it took forever to get the pleats right, or it would've been done in a few hours), ~5 hours for the bodice, ~3-4 hours for the sleeves, ~3 hours for the underskirt, and ~1 hour for the hat.
And no I wasn't hot (temperature wise, lol) wearing that. It happened to be ~40s/50s yesterday, so the temp was just perfect for running around in court garb. I have yet to wear that in normal summer weather though, so we'll see.
