Description Unlearning is always harder than learning, and you learn how to have an argument like you learn almost everything else, by watching the examples people around you set. Severus learned that way, too, and the examples he had and the thought he might enact what he learned scares him.

EDIT: I should add a little more of what I wanted here so as to avoid confusion. In this one, Severus was raised by a Tobias (whom I picture as physically abusive) and has learned to see his parents behaviour as normal back then - as the children of abusive parents are wont to do. As a result, again like many people who were raised by abusive parents, he is actively combating reactions which he has come to think of as normal. He would not hit Minerva as he never really shows physically violent behaviour and I'm guessing that as a result of his upbringing he resents physical violence and would go out of his way to avoid it, concentrating on magic instead, but that does not mean that there isn't a voice inside that tells him that kind of behaviour would be normal in a fight. Sorry about the TL;DR explanation.

A quick one inspired by two beautiful stock silhouettes I found.

Also, how when she stands against him in Deathly Hollows.
He never actualy raises his wand to attack her. So I agree with this. Wonderful work!

I'm convinced Minerva and he staged that confrontation. And she had some Dittany in her pocket for later, too.

Really nice but one question (I've been reading the comments but I'm still a little confused).
Did he slap her or is she turning away, while he is trying to grab her?

I hope the one in the back isn't a domestic violence O.o ..... Other than that, I love the silhouettes. Its like a love hate relationship they have

LadyMothwing In reply to Yue-Sai16 [2012-02-09 06:04:52 +0000 UTC]

It is, actually, but it's not a memory of what happened between him and Minerva, it's a scenario playing out in his head, him remembering his parents' fights and trying not to act like they did. Many who were victims of domestic violence take on some behaviours as normal because growing up, it was normal for them, and then spend years unlearning them later when they come in contact with non-abusive people, and that's what I wanted to show here. Restraint against bad other options.

The white one could belong to either Minerva or Severus - it's either Minerva's hopes for the end of the fight, or Severus', or the resulting attempts to overcompensate after the abuse has taken place, but that is up to you.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the explanation. I know what you mean now. I know whether domestic violence passing from parent to child is a controversy, so I like how you bring it up here. Well I still like it so thanks for sharing ^^

I could never understand that, even before we learned that Dumbledore is gay. She is a very disciplined, no-nonsense kind of person, while he is a man who will choose "Sherbet Lemon" as a password for his office.
In contrast, Snape and Minerva share the same kind of humour, engage in intellectual battles all the time, engage each other in challenges over Quidditch and likely over other matters...
And if that wasn't enough, they are far closer together in age than Albus and Minerva are. Not that I necessarily mind an age difference of seventy years in a couple (O_o or do I?), but why so many people will prefer a stereotypical setting of this kind to a non-stereotypical one (aka. she is older than he is) with only thirty years age difference, is completely beyond me.

Sevylove In reply to Crocky-Wock [2012-02-14 22:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, what you say you are right, Snape and Minerva are very similar in attitude and taste, both love the competitiveness and his students work hard ... and Quidditch ... but nevertheless albus would also be good with minerva, I know that Albus is gay but if you do not think you would stay out very well with minerva?, I think that if .. even be gay .....
lily and snape in spite of that, they are very well as a couple snape and minerva

Crocky-Wock In reply to Sevylove [2012-02-17 20:31:43 +0000 UTC]

I think Minerva and Albus make a beautiful pair of friends. Absolutely. They share some interests, after all, and Albus is quite good with people, I think, even with people who take teaching a little more seriously than he does. It always seems to me as though Minerva is doing his actual job while Albus is out there saving the world or messing with Ministry members. Since it seems to work for them, why not... but as lovers, I can't imagine any chemistry between them. They say humour destroys sexual tension, and it's true. If the person with whom you go to bed makes the wrong kind of joke, I think, the relationship doesn't stay sexy or sexually active for long.
Just imagine Minerva being taken aback by one of Albus's chuckles or Albus being baffled by Minerva's snarky wit... that kind of scenario plays out much more smoothly between Minerva and Severus in my head.

well I think seeing it so, is right that it is the perfect severus boyfriend of minerva ... hehe albus because as you said in previous post that he is gay because it would stay with his childhood friend (not as it is called XD) but hey .. minerva is sarcastic and elegant look good with severus that has the same ... I mean it's sarcastic and smart ... ohh and also both have a very fiery character .... jajajajaja

year maybe the age is so big but it was cute albus and minerva...
for snape I will put it with lily or narcissa

LadyMothwing In reply to Sevylove [2012-02-09 06:23:25 +0000 UTC]

In my headcanon, can see Lily/Snape, too, though I prefer him with Minerva because they are so similar and their wits are so evenly matched. Narcissa - I think Lucius would mind, unless they're a triad.

They do rather invite unbottoning at a later juncture, don't they?
