Description Got stuck on my sshg Exchange fic, so took a break to draw this instead.

Based on 'How Sir Tristam drank of the Love Drink' by Beardsley. SSHG pairing. Pen on paper.

The border and use of color is what really makes this picture such a success. Great job.

Beautiful! Duniazade mentioned your gift to her on LJ, that's how I found this. The robes, Hermione's especially, the heart, the restrictive use of colours ...

Favourited this one, but that is to be able to find all of your work back.

Well crafted! I love HGSS and Beardsley...the two go so well together. Your roses are perfect and the use of color adds a gorgeous twist.

LOL! Thanks, Drox. Glad you like it. Does she? I didn't realise. I suppose the features are a tad similar, eh?

Yes, I wants me a cloak like that too.

Nice introduction of colors in this, it works really well. I imagine you'd have to be careful not to over - embellish in Beardsley's style, and you pull it off flawlessly.

pythiadelphi In reply to joeyv7 [2010-04-26 18:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much. I'm so pleased you think it works. And you have no idea how spot on you are about over-embellishing. I was so tempted to do more, I had to literally pull my hand away from the paper and run off before I ruined the entire thing, lol!

Thank you! You may indeed dare- any concrit is most welcome on all my art. May I ask what it is particularly that you like about her? Her hair, her features, or just the overall figure?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedSkyAtNight76 In reply to pythiadelphi [2010-04-26 19:09:22 +0000 UTC]

I think it's the hair and the balance of her facial features that I like so much. Sort of strong and delicate at the same time.

That's wonderful. May I dare? If you ever sell art and the price is reasonable, I would like that one.

pythiadelphi In reply to duniazade [2010-04-26 19:05:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much, Duni! You have no idea how much that means to me that someone would actually want to BUY anything I drew!

I'm rather reluctant to sell fanart of this type because a) the characters aren't my own (although that is often the case with a lot of art-work, I suppose, and they are pictured how I, and not JKR, imagine them) but also because b) I am borrowing heavily from a particular piece drawn by another artist. You have made me think about this issue though, and I may have to reconsider my stance for the future.

However, in case of this particular drawing, since you like it enough to buy, and I promised you a drabble for your b'day which I never delivered, how about we make this your belated birthday gift? I can mail it to you if you PM me your addy on LJ. Just so you know, it's just on ordinary A4 cartridge paper- nothing fancy! (And would you mind if I made and kept a copy just for my art folder?)

So, so beautiful Darling. I love the way it looks like Snape is raising his cup to Hermione and you have managed to draw such a loving expression on her face.

Will be rec'd Sunday evening on the HGSS Digest [link]

I swear, I do not know how you manage to top yourself, again and again. The trim on her robes is phenomenal -- how I wish there were robes made just like that. And she looks like a slightly different Hermione than you usually draw, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, her hair is wonderful.

pythiadelphi In reply to lulabelle72 [2010-04-25 13:10:20 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thanks Lula. You are too kind. This piece was all about the symmetry for me, more so than the characters, hence Hermione's differently designed hair. I felt it went better with the petals and the spiral smoke. A bit Medusa-like though. I suppose her features are more delicate too. The Beardsley original has similar hair, which I really liked and wanted to emmulate. Her robes are also similar, but I thought the red roses would add a certain je ne sais quoi, so I'm glad you liked them.
