Right I'm at Wolfpark today, so what is the best picture I took? A kitten. LOL. Well this wasn't actually 'at' Wolfpark, but a place called Prophetstown, which is a living history musuem and park. What was Prophetstown?

Located where the Tippecanoe River meets the Wabash near Battle Ground, Indiana, the park's landscape has been shaped by ice from the glaciers, moving water, fire that helped maintain the vast tallgrass prairie and human hands. Native Americans hunted and lived along the two rivers for thousands of years. French trappers and traders found the land teeming with wildlife, and European farmers discovered that the rich, deep prairie soils grew healthy corn and wheat.

The park is named for a Native American village located between the rivers established by Tecumseh, who was Shawnee, and his brother Tenskwatawa (The Prophet) in 1808. Tecumseh led his band there from Ohio, where pressure from white settlers had forced him to leave. Tecumseh believed the only way to repel the advance of European settlement was to form an alliance with other tribes. He traveled widely persuading tribes to join his coalition. Over 14 tribes set aside centuries old disputes to stop their common enemy. They met at Prophetstown, and heard The Prophet speak. Tecumseh anticipated their sheer numbers would be enough to stop the westward settlement.

William Henry Harrison, the governor of the Indiana Territory, was alarmed by the numbers at Prophetstown and moved 1200 troops to the site while Tecumseh was south gathering additional support. Wanting to avoid a fight, yet fearing an attack, The Prophet decided to strike first in the early morning hours of November 11. The battle lasted two hours. As darkness faded, the villagers withdrew through the marsh back to Prophetstown and then fled to Wildcat Creek. Harrison's men burned Prophetstown to the ground.

This is Indiana's newest state park and where I met my friend here. They've recreated a native American village, plus a farm from the 1920's. He or she, I didn't stop to ask was curled up in the cool shade of one of the barns at the farm.

This image is being dedicated to my friend. she knows why. Go on over and visit her page, she's a pretty good writer.

I do agree. Technically speaking it is the best shot you've ever taken: it is absolutely perfect.
Despite of it... I do not consider it your best shot and I haven't given you a just because domesticated animal are not my favourite subject. You've taken less perfect shots that give me much more... emotion. But it is just a matter preferences... this shot remains amazing.

Mmh. I know you're point. You aren't alone either, I've seen others say the same about pets. Mainly I think because people swamp the site with them? I don't know.

What a gorgous kitty, the way its in shadow but its eyes are almost glowing and lit from underneath make it look almost sinister... perhaps theres a generation of cats that have lived in Prophetstown thier whole lives that know the real story behind the burning.....hmm random thought but perhaps... you never know what the cats do....*plays the X files theme song* I always hated that show.... they had one on about monster bees and odd children it was way too scary for me
