I love Mike's art and have been wanting to color another of his girls for a while now. When i saw him mention his upcoming art book and this girl was on the cover i got inspired. Thanks for looking! CC always welcome.

Sorry to take so long to respond. I have been neglecting my DA. Been focusing on my FB a lot.
The effect there is just a layer of noise I crated and then dropped into a layer and set to Overlay in CS5. There are some tuts out there for it i think but i am not sure where.

I loved what you did with her ski tones here. you balanced the light off her skin like she's at a photoshoot. but I love the varying levels of [brown is it?] that make up her skin. When it comes to her ears and the pillow the way you managed those colors really added to the fluffy nature of those two items. Excellent work!
also how do you do your light sources? are you just airbrushing white over certain areas or is there something more to it?

Thanks so much! and Yeah, I agree...I've been doing a lot of commission work and friends stuff which is great but I think for a while, after i finish current stuff, i'm going to stop that and try to focus on coloring "better" lines. I think it would do me a lot of good.

Awesome. I am self taught too, the first picture i ever did back in january is under my coloring gallery. Its pretty "ruff" to put it niceley but i leave it there cause it reminds me im learning and i like seeings that. And your comment was still awesome

i have photoshop 6.0 and i can't understand tutorials to save my life... but i still love coloring.

I have a hard time with tutorials myself. I learned a lot watching Nei Ruffino's live stream both live when she host them and the recorded older re recorded stuff. And there are a few books out there that while repetitive in a few ways some of the basics they taught were really helpful (hifi color and DC's coloring guide were both pretty good)but for me nothing really beats trial and error and the power of gooling/youtube a specific question. And if you love it there is never any reason to stop.

i used to do more comic book related stuff then saw others do way better so i then started coloring more cartoony/chibiesque type stuff ...way less stress on the eyes due to less details and i kinda hate coloring backgrounds. But i love looking at other people's work and yours is awesome!
