Description
A birthday gift for the talented Sleyf , featuring frenemies Gabriel Rondcopse and Jonathan Sandwell! I would have included William, but he got lost on the way and decided to just go back home. These were the first characters of yours I met (the first was actually Robert Blake, but he couldn't be bothered...), and I was so very entertained by their escapades in The Alverdale Tangle. My favorite of the three has to be Gabriel, for some obscure reason.Gabriel Rondcopse and Jonathan Sandwell©Sleyf

Te he! You've captured their personalities perfectly in this drawing! I honestly wonder what Sandwell is saying to Gabriel?
S: I promise you won't regret it!
G: You said that the last time!
I love the fact that you also put Gabriel in an outfit that I designed for him yeaarrrs ago *dances* that commission was worth every penny if it keeps being used! I really love their expressions- I know I've mentioned it before, but every time I look at them, I get the giggles!
Wonderful work hon- this is a great present!

Huzzah! I had to look at some pictures for general reference, but most of the basis for their personalities I got from reading 'Alverdale.'
I didn't know what to draw him in, and then I remembered those designs you had made for Sleyf so I used one of 'em! I see the one with the green jacket as his signature look.
Thank you!

Oh my goodness this makes me ridiculously happy! I'm also quite honoured to hear how much you enjoyed the collab - it was great fun to work on and in some respects it sort of still makes me laugh and will kind of always be special even if it could do with some major edits *shameface* (I'm also really happy you like Gabriel haha, he's still one of my faves, mostly, yes, because he brings it all upon himself. Even if his character was changed a little to fit the world and flavour of the collab, he was really amusing to write - and probably suffered a lot of shame by our hand (I mean his own))
This picture is so brilliant though, they look so great in your style, and so instantly recognisable as well! Sandwell is getting the stink-eye of death - it looks like he just said 'I have just been struck by the most fantastic notion boys, this shall be the jaunt to end all jaunts' *insane eyes* (or is about to start singing ' ohhhhh theeeerrre once was a laydeee---' this song is a limerick he heard from a strapping fellow with one eye and a missing hand by the docks *makes up half the words*) make it stop before it's too late! Never trust anyone who looks like that when sober and not under the influence of any mind-altering narcotics, it can only end badly.
Lol that must be one of Celeste's scarfs - and Sandwell is probably making fun 'which scarecrow did you rob that off of.' - shaddap.
Sandwell's waistcoat is a marvel, and shows of his stately figure so well - yellow is such a great colour, and I love that the lapel is patterned too, I never considered that myself, but IT WORKS and opens up a whole new avenue of opportunity for gaudiness Sandwell may explore
Aww thank you so much, this is such a wonderful surprise! I love it

I'm glad you like them! 'Alverdale' was one of the things I looked forward to during my last year at Junior College and my (not so great) first semester at college--I'd stockpile chapters so I'd have plenty to read while waiting around for my night class to start. I liked the fact that there was plenty of characters and storylines to keep up with so that a new chapter would always be a cliffhanger for one of the other plots.
lol Sometimes I'll get bit by the Edit Bug and go through stories I've stuck on the back burner and edit the crud out of them...and then somehow fail to write any new material.
Poor Gabriel! but those kind of characters are the writer's best friend though!
Thank you! Haha! Sandwell must have caffeine for blood to be that exuberant all the time! I was trying to figure out what would be the most flashiest color for him to wear--I could have gone for Highlighter Yellow, but I didn't want to cause blindness in any viewers.
You are most welcome!

Wooh, sorry for the delayed response (not late, delayed...in transit)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun working on it and it gave me something great to divert energies to, so it makes me happy to hear it was enjoyable to someone else as well - I did find myself feeling disappointed when uploading the chapters, that all that work was 'going to waste' as it were, so now I feel really accomplished and relieved that it wasn't! It almost makes me want to start re-uploading the remaining chapters (it was getting to my fave parts too, the Clairvoy arc and Tristan and his melodrama)
Lol that's where I'm at now, but I'm ignoring old work as it needs waaaay too much editing, so I'm clinging to collabs like some sad clinger-on who can't let go (yes I admit it!)
They are indeed! So much fun! The characters who create their own problems are the best - though the ones who cause problems for others are also really fun too.
He's part poltergeist - or something! i'm sure if highlighter yellow was available at that time, Sandwell would find a way to incorporate it into his coat of arms.

I was really looking forward to the arcs with Tristan+Elysia and Henri+Grianne, the first one for the large-scale drama Inky hinted at with her pictures, and the second because they seem like such a cute couple (and Henri deserves a sweet girl after all the garbage he's been through).
At least with collabs you aren't trying to construct a story and its world all by yourself! That's one of the reasons why I'm trying to do one with my sister later on when we both have time for personal projects instead of being bogged down by college. Plus they're just plain fun ;D
lol Both. Both are good.
I have a feeling that Sandwell would find himself right at home in the 1980s...
