Description
I have once again gotten ahead of myself with my stories...I saw this painting and knew I HAD to use it for a Haddock and Isolde portrait.
The Whippersnappers: Douglass (named after Haddock's deceased brother) is on the far left and takes after his father as he likes to read. He's also the type who lets his imagination run wild and while come up with some far-fetched whoppers to try to get out of trouble. Isolde is holding Hetty (named after Hetty Bixby, the girl Drexel killed), who is very attached to her mother and the generous amount of dolls her aunts gifted her with. She can turn into a little monster when her brothers steal said dolls and toss them around... The boy holding the cat is Emery, who has collected a large amount of pets and plans on being a veterinarian someday. He nursed the cat in the portrait--Nigel--back to health when he found the emaciated kitten cowering in the bushes with a freshly-missing tail a year ago.
I had fun playing around with shading and the background and textures to try to make this look more like an old portrait, though I think I might have gone a little too crazy with the adjustment layers, as usual.

Aww! What a sweet family! I like how they named them. One after Douglass and the other after Hetty Bixby.

Thank you! Their memories live on in the kids.

Oh sweet. Now they can relax and settle down for once, no more Drexel! That's pretty cool how Haddock named his son after his brother Douglass. I love the color pallet on this one, it's like a warm fire place lit room. Great job!

Thank you so much! I wanted Douglass's memory to live on in the story too. I think my yearning for a warm room leaked into this picture--the insulation in this house is terrible!

It's about mid 50s to high 40s here--it was a lot colder earlier this week since we had two straight days of rain (not complaining! We need it!).

I bet! It's going get unseasonable colder again for us again. It's like a roller coaster ride from cooler and then to downright cold for us.

Aww!! This is beyond cute!!! I knew they'd end up together- woot!!! I love the look of fond pride on Haddock's face, it makes a difference from all his usual brooding! Isolde looks content- if faintly exhausted, which is understandable considering she has three small kids to run after! Are Douglass and Hetty twins? They look around the same age. I love the fact that Emery wants to become a vet- that's adorable! I wonder how Nigel the cat feels about being owned by a family of werewolves...
Great family portrait!

This is my favorite picture of the new year so far!
I was so happy to draw him being smiley for once too! Plus, they literally turn into little beasts every full moon, so that's even more draining! The kids are actually all triplets (the giving birth to 5-6 kids thing still applies for women who have children with werewolf men).
I don't think Nigel cares, as long as he gets fed and gets to sleep on someone's lap for most of the day. lol

It's great how you managed to get that 'old photo' look, so I think the adjustments were a success. Poor Nigel and his missing tail, at least he now has a loving owner. I wonder if animals react differently to werewolves?

Thank you! He's got three little loving owners who fight over who gets to hold him/which bed he sleeps on constantly. I'm thinking that animals might know that something is vaguely off about werewolves; vegetarian critters tend to give them a wide birth until they gain their trust.

The world's most pampered cat, I bet he learned how to open doors just to bed hop.
That must make horses a bit of a hit and miss if you end up with a very skittery one

I know my cat learned how to open sliding doors to yowl in the hall for attention, so anything's possible! xP
Drexel just scared his horses into submission (and Haddock's brother Grant doesn't get along with them at all).

Mine used to open doors to wake up up on weekends when she was tired of waiting. She was am 'old lady' we rescued and every morning she would wait for each of up to come down and greet her before she could happily go off and do her thing (baking in her basket in the blistering sun). And she would wait on the stairs each day to see us return from school too. I think she was afraid of abandonment. But yeah, she'd open the door and meow in your face to wake up, she was a busy woman you know.
Lol 'obey me, pathetic nag!'
Do they just not like Grant, or do they like him TOO much and he just doesn't like them? (like my mum, she doesn't trust the, but they adore her. One kicked her when she was young so now she's wary of them but they all like chewing her clothing and giving her attention)

Aww! I think cats pretend to not care about people but secretly crave the attention deep down. lol It took mine all of December to warm up to me for "deserting" her at college and now she won't leave me alone.
They can tell something is off about Grant, so they're more iffy around him (hence him getting thrown on multiple occasions and taking at least five minutes to try to get on his mounts as they skitter away).

I now have a mental image of a kid in werewolf form with a bedraggled kitten in his mouth, sitting there, looking at his mother with big puppy eyes like, "Can I keep it?" A wolf's nose would be great for tracking down injured animals.

That's one of the reasons why the Haddocks start accumulating so many small animals once Emery is allowed to leave at nights with his other siblings and father upon their transformations. xP
