Love this!

I LOVE the textures in this. I love the rough, lively, organic painterly feel everything has. You build up the volume of everything in a great way -- her hair has a good sense of heft and density to it for that hairstyle, and the texture gives it the right, lifelike feel. Her face and her cheeks feel fleshed out and have a texture and feel distinct from the hair -- smooth and soft, but with a realistic texture and organic, imperfectness that makes her look so pretty.

Oh, I just noticed her pointy ear poking out from her hair -- so cute! X3

I love her expression a lot! Her eyes have a bright, excited sense of life to them, and her smile is adorable. I love how it's not just a flat line or two slapped on the face -- the shape of the mouth looks like it's sculpted out of and into the planes of her face, which I think is part of why I like it. And I like how we see the edge of the smile pushing her cheek up a little, too.

The phoenix's expression is awesome, too! I love how such a boundlessly happy expression comes off in the tiny eyes and smiling beak. There's a brightness to the phoenix's expression that is adorable.

And speaking of brightness -- love the colors! I love the energy that comes through from the bright glow of the phoenix's flame, and how the lighting throughout the pic reacts gradually to it in a complex, lifelike way. And going back to the texture -- I think it makes the fiery atmosphere even stronger. I love the crackling splashes of color coming from the flame, and how the brushstrokes have this excited energy to them, carrying that fiery feel around. I like the embers floating around the girl's shoulders, and how everything works together to communicate this feel, this energy, this mood that's bright and exciting and adorable.
