A pretty pin-up kinda thing I did of LieLie, for a Buff Babes Zine submission!! Hope I get in, hahahah!Though, just for the record, my inspiration was based off of this scene from one of my favorite movies ever (NeZha Riots the Seas ), and I still picture this with the traditional BeiJing Opera music goin' on in the background now thanks to that, lol.
And I don't know if I ever mentioned this before, but after LieLie loses ShanShan (who dies of old age, thank you very much, minimal angst there I promise), she keeps her horns for a weapon and also gets a pretty sweet new outfit, heheheh. Hopefully you guys also like the black-! x)
LieLie also goes through a bit of a personality shift, having gained more skill in fighting, and confidence in herself and her place in the world (namely, that she'll carve it out for herself no matter what).
My watercolors are still a bit overworked/muted, but still, this was a lot of fun to do-!

One thing I love is that if you know her jawbone is missing, her profile is a-okay, but if you didn't know, and you saw her with her mask, you'd get the littlest hint, like, "shouldn't a chin be behind that, is the bandana having a trick of the light, is her face small???" and you'd only JUST suspect but not REALLY know!!!
Ah, I hope you get in the zine too, let us know!!! Also wooow NeZha Riots the Seas is so pretty, I gotta go find the whole thing now!!!

Your call of course~! I often think of stories in more short-term increments, like the story we're reading is part of a much bigger timeline that is only implied.

Ahhhh hahahah, truth... well, actually, ShanShan's death comes at a pretty late part of the story, and it's kind of a moment of independence/growing up for LieLie, of her by that time finally being strong enough to stand on her own? <:3

Ahahahaha, duuude you should watch it, it's one of my favorite animations from childhood, back when China had gorgeous hand-painted animations... ;=; <3<3<3
And I actually timed this one (since I was stuck doing it at an airport and rushing to finish on time, LMAO) this one took me 6 hours! It took me about 2 hours to do the pencils (rough thumbnails -> photoshop final "sketch" -> final pencils on watercolor paper), then 4 hours or so to watercolor. : ) Watercolors usually take me anywhere between 6-8 hours!

and hey thanks for saying. I was just wondering because Ive recently been all like "aahhh I can't finish a sketch in under 10 minuets Im useless!" I think I probs need to stop being so concerned about how long it takes me and how good it actually looks when I finish it lel.

Hahahahah yeah man, there's a skill to gesture drawin' but there's a still to taking the time and rendering something out as well, and both are useful! No need to be super-speedy~
