Stuff from my Character Design class last semester; I did redesigns for a bunch of Chinese mythological characters!Last one of the bunch (I did more but feel like they're meh so, sorry, haha); my take on the Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin! She's an unlicensed underground doctor here pahahahaha, of the absolute worst sort. She looks out for WuKong and NeZha and patches them up after their scuffles (and then goes back to reading her newspapers, hahaha).
Anyway, these were a bunch of fun to do, and I hope that you guys enjoyed 'em~!

It seems so. This Medic description seems to go well with her too: "What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh."

Saaaay... would you let me "borrow her"...? I mean, like a cameo. You know, in the Pizza & Mochi story (the modern au of my samurai dudes) has a shady world and those shady guys sure needs a healer. She'd be PERFECT to be the one who sews up bad guys who doesn't wanna risk going to the hospital.
Of course I know it's a big deal and I rarely ask such things, but I risk to ask anyway. I understand if not but I just love her to bits so I had to ask anyway.

Haha I love this take on Guan Yin. Monkey's expression is perfect, while in this case he's wincing from the treatment I think it's a nice parallel to the source material where he'd be wincing from a scolding.

This is really cool! ^.^ Chinese myths and gods have been things I've loved since I was little, so seeing this as well as the others is way awesome! I really love your designs of these characters!
