Description Captain Hook re-imagined as an evil character of a sohjo anime/manga.
I think Hook, with his dramatic behavior, would be the perfect villain of a sohjo manga where he mess things up between Wendy and Peter Pan.

This was made for  Evil Re-Imagined Contest

I hadn't noticed the crocodile at my first glance... Very nice touch!

Best of luck!

Reminds me of a memory of mine...

Years ago I had worked rather hard on a similar "decoration" for the framing of an old painting of mine for a story called "Rats in the wall"....

Much later I found the EXACT same figure sculpted into moldings for some Gothic type framework
I didn't really nag much as I had to admit that they had made a very well 3D version of my 2D drawing. pity I hadn't taken a photo of it.. and never visited that state again since :/

You made me curious. I would really like to see that decoration. It must be an excellent work if someone has strived to make it in 3D

When I put it that way it sounds as if it is much more impressive than it actually is I guess.
Here you go (But do lower your expectations dearest ):

It has a link to a bigger photograph of the whole.
But this one shows the rats a tad bit clearer.

They are the two rodents at the bottom.

they are in perfect art nouveau style. Too bad that the photo is a bit dark, you can not appreciate all the details. How big is the painting? It must have been hard work to make the whole series of paintings.

You are TOO kind!
Thank you!

Art Nouveau was a style I had invested a lot of my time into investigating for my thesis. And this book illustration project was a year or so right after it. So such it is most possible that as unintentional as it was: a lot of my investigation rubbed off onto it. As you are not the only person that has thought such.

The one I linked you to was circa 180cm... (About 6 foot I think) And they were rather heavy too.
Boris Vallejo had advised once that any illustration beyond an A3 would be counter productive particularly for the problem of painting in all the details and "filling in" the blank spaces.
In retrospect had I worked in just about half their size: I would be capable of introducing possibly 2-3 times as much details simply from the time "painting it" was consuming. But the project had them sort of demanded as about life size characters that would somewhat haunt you from where they hang. And in real life they do tend to be rather intimidating actually.

To get a better idea of it's scale; you can see me working on them here:

These photographs were taken so long back and at the time sadly I had not the necessary conditions (Including the lighting). And later since they were in storage for years I had never the chance to take new photographs.
But now I have moved to the country they were stored and they are decorating my wall. None the less it would not be nice to re-post a painting I had had shared years ago...
I can how ever take photos and upload it to my stash for you to see if you would so want to.

Is there any in particular you are curious of?

So great series of paintings. I haven't read anything of H.P. Lovecraf, but your art makes me very curios about his writings.
Speaking of your painting, the one I like the most is this. But I can't tell exactly what is the best way to describe my impressions. There is something that reminds me of romantic artists like Johann Heinrich Füssli and at the same time, it has an Art Nouveau vibe.
