Description Produced in 1953 for the MFSC's yard ops, this class of Diesel switcher/shunter was a highly successful American verison of the British Railways class 08. While not being the first MFSC diesel shunter, this class was a prime example of early diesel motive power.

The fleet had 40 engine subclassed to reserve engine numbers in A/B/C/D letters from No. 390 to 399.

Very well made. Based off the Australian variety?

Any chance the MF&SC could send the P&W some to aid our aging fleet of steam shunting locomotives?

It looks pretty same to the Class 08! Yet, I can see the differences. Looks cool... Is any preserved?

Oh man, I WISH these things existed! I've always wanted to see an 08 with knuckle couplers.

Awesome job. ^^ (The detail is astounding.)

built by one of the works for the british ones aswell and they were based on the class 11, not the 08. bodyside components are different to the 08 and they were realesed a year before the 08's started production they 11s were of LMS constructon^^

The F Class, you mean? Very interesting...

mrshamman In reply to Atticus-W [2010-08-24 10:39:03 +0000 UTC]

yes, the aussie was probly based on the british LMS class 11, not the later production 08, produced after the f class, to be clearer perhaps
