Into the soul.

I postponed watching it for quite some time, since I wasn't sure how hard it would hit me. I was sure it would be worth it after my best friend testified, but that also confirmed that I cannot see this film just any day. I thought I'd wait for another year or two. But those late weeks, strolling through the alleys of my own Darkness, it felt like just the time. So I saw it. Took a couple of days to sink in. Then I saw it again. I will see it yet again very soon. Been watching reviews also, because I wanted to dive in the details and the layers of performance, because this is truly a masterpiece. One made by true artists, with great care for the art and the person they portray. With respect and understanding. Doubtlessly one of the best films I've ever seen. I'm biased, yes.

And it did hit me. And I'm glad it did. You wouldn't know how. Not in the ways you would expect, not for the reasons you would assume. Most people would probably not understand. They would not understand the beauty, the purity, the freedom. The pain even. And I, I feel like I have more in common with this rejected soul than I have with 95% of humans, at least. I won't try to explain, I won't try to describe it. I just drew it instead.... just a glimpse into the soul, into what I see in it. For those few who care to see.

So I want to dedicate this to all those fellow souls who are rejected, misunderstood and shunned by society. You are not alone. You matter. You don't have to live this way. If they refuse to understand you, then you do not need to conform to their expectations. Find your ways to be free. Be yourself.

Embrace the Darkness, make your pain into power. Be Free.

P.S. I can't believe it never before occurred to me that I can use a black pencil on black paper too, to make some key details even darker.
