You don't need colors anymore to draw attention. This bw is magnificent like the other one your did recently. Contrasts and details are just wonderful and the whole image is very inspiring and fascinating.

Yes and I am way jealous! I was working with black and white the other day trying to come up with something decent for the Black and White contest but I should have spent that time looking for smooth men instead, the result would have been a failure too but at least I had been out in the fresh air during the search

LaPurr In reply to baba49 [2007-06-30 03:19:42 +0000 UTC]

I think you're just really interested in finding one of those smooth men.

How do you know it would have been a failure? Maybe there's a smooth man out there waiting for you to find him!

baba49 In reply to LaPurr [2007-06-30 10:20:43 +0000 UTC]

I better keep on practicing black and white with apo. After all I already have an excellent half-smooth man

This is not far away from perfect. Incredibly clean spiral; beautiful modulated repetition of the texture inside and out; and the great edges like some of your best coloured (wooden) ones. Oh yes, and the dynamic range too!

Thank you very much, John! That's a wonderfully detailed and generous comment. The fav is just icing on the cake after that, but is very appreciated nonetheless.

No! It's happy like that...it told me so! It feels all safe and snug in those restraints. Really. Don't go giving it any ideas about resistance or revolutions, either.

Thanks for the great comment, hon!

How you feeling these days?

laurengary In reply to LaPurr [2007-06-26 05:23:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm feeling fair to middling I guess, thanks for asking. My biggest problem right now is money, we definitely need more coming in this house.

How're you doing ?

LaPurr In reply to laurengary [2007-06-26 06:07:31 +0000 UTC]

If you find a money tree, will you share?

I've been wondering about you since your last episode, that's all.

As for me, I'm doing okay, thanks.

laurengary In reply to LaPurr [2007-06-26 18:57:46 +0000 UTC]

If & when I find that tree I promise half's yours !

As for me, I had a couple petit mals at breakfast on Saturday, nothing big or embarrasing thank God. I say embarrasing because we'd gone to Reston Va. over the weekend for my nephew's wedding & of course I had to do that in front of everybody. But everyone just acted like everything was perfectly normal for which I was profoundly grateful.

Glad you're doing okay Kat, that's good to hear.

OoooohhKaaaaaay ... *Gill takes a deep breath*

Y'know when you posted your "movement" homework, I said I hated you?

I lied.

I only thought I hated you then. In hindsight, that was a mere foray into the suburbs.

This is a fully fledged, utterly irrevocable, one way ticket on a high speed train journey straight to the very heart of teeth-gnashing, turning-green, bowled over with admiration, hate.

However, in the interest of constructive critique, I'll ask if you couldn't have managed to make it a little less ... umm ... well a little less freaking wonderful? I mean, you could have had a less interesting set of shapes, you could have had less wonderful texture, you could have had a bland background. You could certainly have messed up that magnificent masking job and as for the wonderfully subtle shading and shadows ... well jeez, woman, couldn't you have cocked any of it up?

*sigh* I suppose I'd better fave it anyway.

LaPurr In reply to WelshWench [2007-06-25 17:30:58 +0000 UTC]

Holy shit. You hate me? Gill, say it ain't so!

I promise, I swear, to never ever make another decent UF image. If the UF muse comes calling, I'll threaten her with the fate of the little old, arthritic fairy we once discussed. Really. Then I'll show her pictures from Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book and tell her to back off before she ends up between the pages of a book. That'll scare the fairy dust out of her! The bitch will be pooping sparkles for a week!

I'm thrilled that you like this! I finally found some acceptable (to me) RRL shapes and tried to work with them and this happened. (Of course, Cerenity said they look like bedpans, but...) The textures are ones I've had for a while and just couldn't find anything I thought looked right with them until now.

Thank you so much for the hate-filled comment on my homework and for the grudging fav, too.

I've got a ticket for the return. Will you take the train back?
