I agree with some of the others...my first thought when I saw this was music, wonderful flowing music. The colors are so beautiful!

Tell me cousine does it take ages to render such an UF image?

LaPurr In reply to baba49 [2007-05-30 15:13:36 +0000 UTC]
They're all different, depending on the formulae used but this one was maybe an hour. I think that's a very reasonable length of time.
Because of the size (4200x5600 pixels) and the formulae, rendering Sea Life for the exhibit in England took over 110 hours!

I wonder if it generally takes much less than apo renders? do you know?

I know nothing about Apo renders. You'll have to ask someone like Gill about that. Sorry.

Yes I will. I am slowly getting fed up with fractals because I think they should be poster size or at least half poster size for wall decoration and such sizes are almost impossible to achiee at good quality with a "normal" pc because of the tremendeous render times. I thought that maybe UF has a faster system. If yes I might swich to UF .

LaPurr In reply to baba49 [2007-05-31 15:48:34 +0000 UTC]
Well, UF is such a completely different program that I wouldn't consider switching just for the render times...which seem to be much slower anyway. Given the layering capabilities and formulae, UF can be incredibly slow.

Seeing so many great UF fractals from people taking the online course make me contemplate whether to give it a serious try too since I seem to stagnate with apo .... But maybe I should drop fractals all together until I have a real powerfull pc one day...

No...it just takes a lot of patience while things render. I have a fairly new pc and it still slows things down sometimes.

Patience is a vice so hard to come by for me

They always say that patience is virtue. I must not be overly virtuous.

That I wrote vice instead of virtue is probably a sign that I am a case for Dr. Freud
In the same degree as you are virtuous I am probably vicious

I don't think you can judge that for yourself. I'd have to ask your relatives to verify this. I suspect that your are hiding your light under the bushel.

This is really gorgeous Kat! I love the rich hues and all the ridges and edges. The way the light plays on these spiral elements is so lovely. The texture work and the way it all seems to be weaving in and out of the frame is outstanding. I guess you can tell, I really, really like this one!
