Thanks My work has been strange lately, I've kind of got, a bit lost I just did a digital painting last night, which I hope to finish today. I also have the oil painting of Lina to finish and 3 exhibitions that I have work going into in Colchester. Haven't even chosen what to exhibit yet! I need to get organised! How are you Tara?

Don't see it as being lost exactly...see it as creatively exploring!

I'm good, thanks! Hope you are too!

Things are improving. I have a few exhibitions to prepare for and a one man show for either November or December so I guess I'm going to be very busy. At the moment I have to get the form back by the 29th and I only received it yesterday. So much going on but so far I'm coping. How's you new house, all settled in now? And, how is Draft 3 coming on, remember I want to read it once it's completed, if I may?

We're very happy in the new house. I'm obsessed with the garden. I want to slowly transform it into my own mini Eden!

Draft 3...is not coming on! I reached editing chapter 15 and realised I hated it all. I'm half tempted to start all over again.

You'll have to send me some photos, especially of the garden. I guess it will have some topiary in it when you are done with it

Can you send Draft 3 so that I can have a read. You probably just need a rest from it. I enjoyed your novel so much I can't understand why you would hate it. I think art work is a bit like that, somehow it's never good enough but personally I think the 2nd draft was fantastic so even if you left the remaining chapters like that, it's an amazing achievement and maybe you should consider publishing it just as it is rather than leaving it unfinished. I have an authoress who is publishing novels and is quite successful as a friend on Facebook. She's a cousin of a close friend of mine, would you like me to put you in touch with her?

Forestina-Fotos In reply to Larainjp [2012-10-04 19:52:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I would like some topiary eventually. I've just got to grow it...and box grows rather slowly! I'll send you some photos of what I've done so far. Can you remind me of your email again. I deleted most of my contacts because I got a virus that was spamming all my friends email addresses!

Thanks. I'll make a few more revisions to draft 3 and send you a couple of chapters. I think the problem is, I've got another novel idea gnawing away at me and I keep wanting to start it. I don't know whether to have a break from draft 3 and work on something different for a while, then go back to draft 3 with fresh eyes.

No worries about putting me in touch with the authoress, though I appreciate the thought. I'm still nowhere near ready to even think of trying for publication.

I'll really look forward to seeing the photo, you can send to larainperry@gmail.com

I'll look forward to reading Draft 3. Writing something else in between sounds good. I find I'm pleasantly surprised when looking back on old work. I'm usually dissatisfied when I've just completed it but can feel more of a sense of achievement when I go back to it. I'm just finishing the '50 Shades of Grey' trilogy. I was too curious not to read it. I've found it quite interesting and engrossing, not as bad as some of the critics wrote

Look forward to you email Tara

I've sent the latest pics.

I've heard that the '50 Shades of Grey' was terribly written. If it wasn't so naughty I doubt whether it would have become such a bestseller. People's curiosity is what sold it, not the author's talents as a writer. I'll probably take a peek eventually, to properly judge for myself, but only when it's been reduced to 50p!

You have a beautiful garden Tara, I love the statues, bird bath and bench, Wow! I'd love to have them in my garden. I do think we have similar taste. How you explain what you intend to do with the garden is similar to how I am growing mine. I'm not keen on a large lawn, I have trees and secret corners and areas, which I love, I can send photos if you are interested. It's mostly shrubs, I just have flowers on the patio in tubs but obviously they are dying now.

I'm just finishing the last in the '50 Shades' trilogy. I've found it quite enjoyable to read, although I've found the sex scenes to be far too frequent, which constantly interrupts the story line. They are very explicit but for me that's not what makes these books interesting at all. I quite like the character descriptions. Perhaps the sex is necessary to explain the dynamics of their relationship, certainly some of it is. Anyway, I don't want to give too much away if you are going to read it but I do think it's a good read. More because of its content than the way it's written although I don't find it really poorly written at all but you'd be a better judge than myself. I'd be interested to know what you think once you've read them. I would have sent them to you but I read them on a Kindle so unfortunately can't give them away. I do think you are right about their popularity being due to the explicit sex scenes and curiosity, it certainly taught me a thing or two but it's not all bad at all, worth a read

I've just received the start of your 3rd draft of Chimera and so will just finish of the last of the 50 Shades and will begin on that. I'm really looking forward to revisiting it. I have such a poor memory it will be like reading it for the first time and I enjoyed it so much then. I'm sure to enjoy it just as much again. This time I may read more slowly and when I'm inspired by your imagination and amazing descriptions use them to produce some artwork. The one good thing about my memory deteriorating so badly is I can reread books and watch films more than once without remembering the ending lol

Thank you! Like I said, the garden is still only in the early stages but I have many plans! Yes, feel free to send pics of your garden. I love to see different gardens.

No hurry to read the 3rd draft. When you get the chance. There is one part of my novel I would absolutely LOVE you to paint/digitise if ever you felt inclined. The hall of doors! I've searched Google and DA but there are hardly any good portrayals of a hall of doors. But no pressure. I thought I'd just mention it!

I'll send some photos when I can get around to it. The garden is really overgrown at the moment which is how I like it really I don't get my own way with it for long though, everyone always says how I should cut it back. I'd really just like to plant trees and have a small forest for a garden lol. As it is, it's more like a woods at the bottom of my garden but you can't see it unless you go under the trees. I love it anyway, as I can't walk in the woods and it's my favourite place it's a good substitute. Our new dog likes it too, he disappears in there from time to time I'm going to read draft 3 now as I've finished the '50 Shades' trilogy. I definitely think it's worth a read, although my interest in psychotherapy probably made a difference to my enjoyment of these novels. I'm going to ask Darryl if there is anyway he can put Chimera on to my Kindle as otherwise it means taking my laptop to bed or I'll just read it in the lounge but Darryl loves the TV on 24/7 (driving me mad )

I'm sure I remember the hall of doors that you are referring to but can you send me an extract rather than me search through the book so that I can have a go at illustrating it. Whilst reading your novel I was so inspired by lots of your descriptions but I was too engrossed in the story to stop and think about it. This time I can cut and paste parts that are particularly inspiring for me and take it all in at a slower pace. I'm looking forward to it.

I love overgrown gardens. I want to have a 'wild' corner where I'll grow ferns etc.

I'll look for a description of the hall of doors and email you it. Like I said, there's no pressure to do anything with it, but if you fancied painting something a bit different...well...totally up to you.

I'd enjoy reading a piece to illustrate. I remember whilst reading there was so much that I could visualise and that stimulated my imagination. I'd find it really interesting. I'll look forward to receiving the description. I'm more into producing work than exhibiting anymore to be honest. I'm happy with my life as it is and where I was once ambitious for my work to be seen I'm not sure that is my goal anymore but I was asked to do these exhibitions and so would not like to regret passing up an opportunity

Sorry for the delay with the Hall of Doors description. I haven't forgotten. You've been producing some great work lately - really intriguing and thought provoking - so I look forward to seeing what you do with the recesses of my own imagination!!

I'm looking forward to being inspired by something new There's no hurry. I've handed over my work for the two exhibitions and the other one man show is for next year now so I don't have to worry about that for a while. I nearly finished the 3rd draft Chapter 1 a while ago but have become involved in reading about Duchamp lately. I thought it was more sophisticated but still just as charming. I don't know why you should feel that you hate it. It's just as wonderful as the first time I read it and I do think improved in the way it is written. If you send a few chapters at a time so that I can put them all into one file I think Darryl can get it on to my Kindle for me.

Thank you! It's not that I hate my novel exactly. I actually love it and the characters and the world I have created, but I fear other people (namely publishers/ agents) will not share the sentiment and think it weird or something.

I'm still faffing with chapters 2 and 3 but as soon as I'm happy I'll email them. Thanks again for the renewed interest! It means a lot!

So great to hear about your exhibitions! It must be great to see your work displayed.

I think from what you say that it's just a matter of confidence regarding your novel. I don't find it weird at all. It's imaginative and unique. If you feel it's different then realise what an amazing quality that is. I'm looking forward to chapters 2 and 3. I thought that you had already redrafted most of it. You really ought to get this published, it's too good not to share, I can't believe you doubt yourself Would you like me to ask my friend to read over it to get her opinion? I think at some point you have to be brave

Some of my work is now being exhibited and I have another going up but I haven't even seen it. They are joint exhibitions and I'm not really that well to appreciate it but as I was asked to exhibit I felt I should take advantage of the opportunity. I have a one man show next year that I'm hoping I can enjoy more

Yes, they are 99% edited but I felt compelled to go over them again with my oh too critical eye.

Thanks for the offer but if you wouldn't show your friend for the moment. I hope you don't mind.

But thank you for your kind encouraging words. They mean a lot.

Yes you are too critical Tara Your work is amazing but I wouldn't let anyone read your script, I treat it as completely confidential and feel honoured that you allowed me to read it. I guess you have to be careful with it too as it's intellectual property which I hadn't thought of previously, of course I don't mind.
