"A Roc or Rukh (from Persian رخ rokh) is an enormous mythical bird of prey, often white, reputed to have been able to carry off and eat elephants."I wanted to do an illustration from mythology, and I thought this one sounded quite interesting
The fire was a last minute thing, maybe it looks stupid. I just wanted some more colour in the picture. I don't really think I got the light coming through the wings to look right either. For painting the birds I was inspired by Raymond Swanland [link] The levels in the picture are way off but I don't really know how to fix it now.

wow!! this is impressive. however, the bird on the left doesn't look like it's far away - need to somehow blend it into the storm for better depth of field i think... its ended up looking like a very small bird in the foreground. otherwise stunning - the fire really sets it off... an angry message, perfect for a death harbouring bird of prey like that...

I suggest a little warm reflected light on the nearest roc, and add a little more color to all the birds to distinquish them more from the background.

Wow, great stuff! Your digital painting keeps getting better and better! I think the fire is a nice touch, without it, the mood of the picture would've been to cold. The waves and rain are excellent! I'd love to see a little bit of color in the main Roc's eyes.
