I like that, it's mixing different idioms well, from voodoo magick to serial killing to maybe a Vlad innuendo? And really insinuating a world of backstory for Umbrella too. Like where the influences for their research may have derived. But then, evil corporations are the best villains!
cheers!

Thanks for looking through the work This is quite an old piece done for a contest here on DA. I looked back through my old files and found the little story I had typed up to go along with the art. We had to depict a new monster for one of the Resident Evil movies and I decided to go with something a lil different...
'The Becoming'
The Umbrella Corp. had been researching and experimenting with ancient magiks long before thier attention turned to genetic & cyber enhancement.
Dr. Eric Mansfield headed up his own research team, tasked with exploring the legends surrounding the Voodoo Death Curse and the possibility of using it as a modern day weapon.
Dr. Mansfield became obsessed with the work and soon came to master the Dark Arts.
Eager for proof of his new abilities, the Umbrella Council agreed to Dr. Mansfield request and sent him out into the world...a new Reaper to havest the souls of the weak & wayward.
With the surprising news of his sucess the Council agreed to move on to more bothersome targets, hoping that Dr. Mansfield's methods would prevail where all others had failed.
His intended victim was an elderly gentleman who resided in a castle the foothills of the Swiss Alps. Constantly under heavy guard he had been impossible to eliminate.
However all Dr. Mansfield needed to cast his spell was a name, a photo and some personal belonging, the actual location of his victim was of no importance.
That night Eric Mansfield made ready his magiks and then began chanting the first lines of the Death Curse.
He was never to finish the spell.
Unfortunately for him, The elderly gentleman who he was targeting also happened to be a practitioner of the Dark Arts, and this Sorcerer was in the habit of keeping a simple shield spell around him at all times.
When poor Dr. Mansfield began his curse, the Shield Spell simply reflected it back on to him, the caster.
Eric Mansfield was struck down by his own Death Curse.
However, as the spell had not been completed, Eric's life was spared but at a horrendous price.
The very nails that he used to puncture his voodoo doll and torture his victims with now manifested themselves in his own flesh and blood.
Caught between life & death and suffering in excruciating pain, Eric lost his mind.
The Umbrella Council, never satisfied to admit defeat, decided there was still use for poor Dr. Mansfield.
He became the new test-subject for the recently developed X-VIRUS.
Once again things did not go as planned as the chaos that reigned inside Eric's body mutated the X-VIRUS beyond all conceivable thought.
And then at last Dr. Eric Mansfield was truly lost to the word as his body, mind & soul warped into a new form, born again as the monstrous axe wielding butcher of Umbrella... The Executioner!

Whoa. That is either going to give me nightmares for a week or voodoo-doll fear for a lifetime.
Probably both. Great job with this!
