Description
This photograph was shot a couple of weeks back. This morning firemen finally got a huge fire threatening eastern suburbs under control - 16,ooo hectars of land was already lost. The smoke from that fire is what created the thick, orange blanket of fog you see laying over the city. Though I didn't care much for the smell, the smoke gave the light an extra warm tone this morning.________________________________________

(I believe the term is 'depth of field' by the way, not the other way around )

SOO gorgeous
I love how much you captured in this... like, you have some peaceful birds... which then fades into a busy city, I love how you did that...
not to mention, the colors and perspective, and depth are all fantastic...
amazing work

Very nice, i like it a lot. The tree are lit well and the smoked out city scape being slight 'dumbed' down is a very cool effect, pity about the circumstances. The ducks are a nice feature but work well in not detracting from the main focus. Excellent work.

Wow! That is so pretty! I mean, what a great eye you must have to have taken such a beautiful image. I love the depth and pale colours. What's happening in the picture is also pretty unnoticeable, so it's nice how you put that in the description. It gives off a sense that wonderful things can come out of destruction. Beauty and great feats of kindness are often a biproduct of tragedy. Anyway, I like the space in between all of the trees where there is something else much smaller, the openness kind of draws your attention to see what is beyond the subtle darkness of the foreground to the brightness of the background. The reds and browns of the trees and their reflections is spectacular, and the business and rippling of the water in the front of the photo all combine to show a deep connectivity between nature and man's creations.

god that's amazing. it's so beautiful, though the story behind it is really sad. it's kindof hopeful though. very nice stuff.
it's especially nice how it goes from blueish green to orange to blueish green again from top to bottom.

I love it, apart from palm trees really annoy me for some unfathomable reason! But the colours are beautiful, and its so beautifully proportioned. The foreground could have been superimposed on the background - the two landscapes are so contrasting - the african-ny duck water and the metroplitan skyscape. Its mind-boggling!
Man, I wish I lived there. I live at the polar opposite to you, and the weather here feels like its polar too!

I love this photograph.....Just shows what result you can get if you brave the elements, ie suffocation from smoke
Can I have a print sometime?

I reckon..kinda pissed at myself for not going out to shoot the actual fire.
I heard even the kangaroos at the zoo were all stressed out because of the smoke =/
