Description "If you're looking for a challenge that will test your strenght, stamina and spirit, you may have found it right here in today's Army. It won't be easy. You'll test yourself both physically and mentally. But if you've got a thirst for adventure and are ready to prove yourself, you may have what it takes to succeed in one of the many specialties in the Army's Combat Arms."

Whenever I watch the news, I see France as Paris, and the Champs Eleysee, Eifle Tower and Cafe's.

Does it occur to any of you, that when you watch your news or TV, you often see America something that it is not.

It's so sad to see young kids get killed off. I was looking at a list of soldiers killed in Iraq and so many of them are my age - 18 or 19. I wouldn't want to go that way. But it's sad when kids go in there thinking it's brave or honorable. Destruction is so easy.

Military recruitment makes me sick.. the LIES.. it's.. ugh.. :blech: This "army of one" bs.. the FIRST thing you're told in basic training is that you are NOT an individual, you are a weapon, not a human.

anyway.. i really like how you put a gun in his hand throughout the stages.. a very nice touch.

I am an American, and, maybe, unlike several others that have commented, I support the free expression of images. If I didn't want to see "images of American soldiers dying" I wouldn't turn on the television. (Not that I have one at the moment) Anyways, regardless of political views this is a provocative piece that prods the mind. At first funny and then chilling, with it's basis in reality, this is a cartoon that doesn't speak to the funny bone, it speaks to the heart. I fear for our soldiers in Iraq because this is true. I fear for the Iraqis and the Afghans. If one less person dies of this, it is one more person to be free. The advertizements for joining the Army Corp are disgusting and can be found every time one opens a magazine or goes to the movies. They are everywhere. The idea of an "Army of One" is absurd. It is not one person who is dying, there are hundreds. I feel so far to the left in saying that the ads the army puts out are devices of propoganda, but it certainly seems so. From the begining to the end (as you show in this artwork) it is a true viscious cicle with a strong gravitational pull that sucks more people in every day.
I might point out, so that people can stop calling you an idiot, that you mis-typed "strength" in the description.

actually this is a really good piece (yet again) with an extremely important message (again).

many countries exude a culture of violence that is learned socially from a young age, by your family, the media, teachers, and friends. i know in the u.s. and canada, this is especially true, and i wouldn't doubt that it's true in europe and elsewhere.

too bad your brain dosent work quite as well as your hands - because you do draw really well, it just seems you cant think of anything within the realm of reality

I especially like how the baby boy is diapered with the American flag. Come into the world wearing the red white and blue, and leave in a wooden box sporting the same.

FocalPoints In reply to jpost [2004-06-27 04:56:45 +0000 UTC]

you know, looking around today i saw a note on somebody deviation saything that the dumbing down of America started with the anti-war movement... and now I see your note here saying simply "you're an idiot" because somebody decided to express their feelings on what the military is good for. This is the dumbing down of America. It has nothing to do with your politics. It has to do with relativism. A problem in Socrates' time which led to his wrongful death, and a problem today. Every time you decide "he doesn't think the same as me, he must be wrong" you are stabbing philosophy and the free thought that the constitution was based on (you know, John Stuart Mill, Hobbes, John Locke... oh wait, you DON"T know, because it's illegal to teach these things to you in high school). people like you are why I am absolutely ASHAMED to admit that i'm an American. In foreign countries, you know, I say I'm Canadian because of you... it saves my ass.

thats so sad you have to do that.
I really feel for Americans that dont support all the BS of your Government.
I hate to think of what would happen to people like you if Bush gets voted in again.
My impression of americans will be downgraded to scum level if it happens.

I'm an American. However, I can actually see what's happening to America. I'm not totally and completley Media-tarded. Like most americans. I actually had the sense to escape to Canada. Literally, I now live in Edmonton with my mother and I agree with Focal Points. E-mail me anytime to voice your opinions.
