LOVE your screwdriver. The clear spirally bit in the middle is my favorite. I tried to work one into mine and failed miserably so I can appreciate seeing one that is well-done. ^_^ That and the angle of the button and the hand grip. You should be proud.

Thanks.
The middle bit was actually pretty easy to make. I cut off the ends of a clear biro, then wrapped some copper wire around it. You'd be surprised how far you can get with stuff you've got lying around the house

Oh yeah, definitely. Mine's not as . . . elegant as yours, but that's what I did with mine. I love yours thought, very nice.

Does it make the iconic sound? ad if so, how did you get it to? I've been looking at making these myself, but it's too expensive to buy "real" ones to tear apart

Assuming you're talking about the screwdriver, it has working light and sound (the vortex manipulator only has one flashing light).
I used circuitry from an Eleventh Doctor screwdriver toy (they have better sound quality than the Nine/Ten ones). Around here, at least, I've seen them going reasonably cheap on eBay (roughly £7-8 for a new one, possibly less if you're patient and look around for a while).

Cant say I know the conversion rates off the top of my head, I find them for around $15-20 when I search. Plenty fine if I'm going to buy them for myself, but if I'm looking to sell modified ones (for under $40 is my goal), then i need a better source. I've been looking around to find a better way to duplicate that noise. the rest of the circuitry I can do myself for a few cents.
I wish I could just find broken ones to buy up for cheap, but Whovians are a proud people and take care of our sonics
