Description Here is my coloring method! Also on Tumblr and has a bonus section on Coloring from Reference: thesilvereye.tumblr.com/post/5…

This technique can be done with any drawing program that has Layers, a Polygonal Selection tool, a Gradient tool, and a Paintbrush (and most drawing programs that I know of have those tools). I used Gimp for this.

I'm going have to try this out myself, especially the Overlay trick.  My lines are just coloring book style sometimes.

that is pretty nifty, the part where you use a color scheme to make the drawing more unified.

But do you use the tints and tones or colors close/similar to the ones in the designated palette?

Ex: Skin tone, is close to orange in the drawing you demonstrated with. And what about the drawing with the lady in some priestess robe, but the palette is only blues and violets? (top, left corner drawing.

In the third section where I show the gradients menu, you can see the colors I made the skin tone from. It's yellow to red, directly from the color palette. It is fun and challenging to restrict yourself to only use colors from the color scheme designer, but I don't do that normally. I see the palette picker as a starting point for a harmonious color scheme, like in the top left image you pointed out, her skin tone wasn't on the palette, but that doesn't change the overall color scheme from being analogous.

that does help. I need to try that when I have time.

I wanna kick myself for not experimenting more. Now it'll be too little time, since I've started teaching recently.

This is really lovely!  I've been itching to work on some art and I might try your color wheel method!  I'd seen that website before, but I never thought to use it as a palette!  Thanks so much for this!  Very helpful and inspiring!
