Don't be sad, maybe like me, the judge wasn't into portraits but could still see the merit of this painting.

I've only entered one Juried Art Competition. I saw the winners & though some WERE beautiful, others were just questionable at best. Like with all things, likes & dislikes are subjective to the viewer & judges alike.

True! You should look up Richard Thomas Scott on Facebook. Odd Nerdrum has another competition that he is running through Richard. There is an interesting conversation going on. Richard wants to know if he should filter the entries. A one man filter?! I don't think that I am going to enter this one. It is a popularity contest I think.
