Arya is my BFF. Seriously, the girl lives in superpatriarchal times but it's not stopping her from kicking ass and taking names.
Whatever Ned and Jon (I'm totally assuming he's equally responsible for encouraging her) did while she was growing up, it's not going to be undone anytime soon. (I hope)

In the books, the scene is even more interesting because Ned tells Arya she'll marry a king.

Ain't she great? Likely she got away with things like that more in Winterfell, being so far north. But even if that attitude is looked down upon in King's Landing, we'll see who's still standing when winter comes, and THEN let's see who's got a problem with her 'tude.
