Description Stepped away from my special prayer rock to photograph the north-northwest view of the valley. My favourite rock, in her prominent place, can be seen from slightly below the center of the photo.

The sun shines on the side of my special prayer rock within an hour before sunset.

The timing of photographing this beautiful scene could not have been more perfect since the weather was quite nice on Christmas Eve!

Photo taken on Christmas Eve 2009 at Usery Pass, east of Mesa, AZ.

For me this is an unusual sight for Christmas Eve. How in the world would Santa land his sleigh??? Must have wheels for y'all down south.

Kidding aside Laurice, this is a lovely view and a place that I would like to visit someday.

Your Santa joke got me laughing quite a bit! Well, how about a helicopter ride for the sedentary Santa instead of the sleigh! Landing a helicopter always works well in the desert and also in the mountains!

And Santa will have to shed his winter wardrobe (and of course, his heavy white beard) and opt for light-weight clothing (and clean-shaven face)!

Just kidding!

Seriously, you should come down here and enjoy the Southwest and especially Usery Pass (and of course, this breathtaking view)! Perhaps when you get a chance in the future! Fall, winter, and spring seasons are best. Not the summer time, especially for you and other Canadians that are so very used to the freezing weather in the winter and cooler weather during the other seasons.
