Reminds me of the ATSF cabooses I got shots of in Hodgkins, IL. And I caught a Chessie caboose in Grand Rapids too.

There are still a few around. CSX uses this one as a shoving platform for long back up moves. [link]
They also use it as an operators station when they are using a remote control unit.

From what I have heard there are quite a few running around still. I think there are two in my area and has a baywindow close by where he lives.

Yep. They are few and far between now a days.
CSX uses their old cabooses as "shoving platforms" for long back up moves. They also sereve as place for the crew during remote control operations.
