I'm totally, completely, ABSOLUTELY fed up.sometimes you reach a point where you don't have any more tears to shed so you can only stare blanky in front of you while strawberry filling leaks out of your eyes.

this drawing isn't great. I never could come up with a color scheme for Melancholy so I went with pitch black but unfortunately it makes her look flat, and the drawing was pretty decent up till she got filled in.
I had fun with the idea and everything else. It's good to play around a little.
but if anyone can come up with some ideas for how to make her look less flat, I'd love some advice.
Maybe I could add a hand on the table holding a fork or knife? maybe that would help...

To be honest, if she was flat you could pass it off as intentional, given that she's melancholy. A void. Voids don't have dimensions, they're all consuming like black holes. But you could use white to edge parts of her which are in front of the rest, or dark grey. Or you could just make her a shade of dark grey, that way shading shows up slightly

Maybe it's the colours complimenting the scene? Like change them up to be all greens or be all pinks?
Yeah sometimes it's just better to step away and chalk it up to being an experiment.

Well sometimes if the colours all match as a set it makes everything tie together better, so the black would not seem as though it stands out.
Yeah sometimes we just need to look at things with fresh eyes again to notice that it's not so bad
