Lear-is-not-amused — Internalizing doesn't make it go away

Description This was a piece I made for my senior studio class (the "do whatever the hell you want but also we're going to critique it every two weeks" class) because I was dealing with emotional stress at the time.
I ended up crying during a critique in a class for literally no reason other than someone told me they couldn't hear me, and to speak louder, and for some reason I shut down lol.

I told my mother in a call because I was appalled at myself for having a panic attack over public speaking when I haven't done that since I was a little kid, and she said "maybe it's because you're internalizing a lot of things"

the image doesn't really look like my original vision. but what does?

I love the wide eyed frozen expression and the simplicity of the shapes. Those hands and a thing of grabby beauty. I imagine heavy breathing from the Anxiety there. 'tastes like panic'

Sometimes the strangest things can set you off if you're close to breaking. I hope it didn't go too badly after that, having to explain yourself

I like the wall eyed stiff pose of the person because that's basically how it feels, trying to pretend something isn't there even though it obviously is.

everyone in that class was super nice, and they understood I wasn't upset about their critiques, I explained that because I didn't want people to think I was overly sensitive to criticism and I was really embarrassed but no one's held it against me or brought it up again

Like a tenseness

That's a good thing to hear, it's great that they understood it wasn't related to the critique at all, that would be an awful misconception to go through the semester with

yup!

yeah, they're all really nice people in that class to be honest. (a couple of them are pretentious but eh, whatever) and I haven't had another issue in our other critiques so they all probably figured I can handle it.

This piece is very strong, very emotional. I love the monster, especially the eyes! Fantastic work!
