I feel like my colors are always way too saturated and gross. :THad a go at this www.deviantart.com/xlnsomnlacx… because why not?
I actually started this last semester but then my computer needed to be fixed and I got some time to work on my art for a bit so I decided to finish this...
Asher's face cooperated this time lol but Lear is actually starting to become a problem now. ugh.
she's awkward, Asher's not, you know the drill.

I'm not sure? I mean, it would be difficult to have one person draw one character... but maybe it wouldn't?
perhaps if we were to share what pose we basically want out character in, so that we can put them together with no issue, so it's an easier collaboration?

i actually really like the colouring on this, i'm not sure how to explain why, but it kinda just makes them stand out, i love it.

What wonderful swirliness (also I just realised that Asher has a handy arm rest, which is infact his body! How useful!). I actually like the saturation of colour, it’s fun and in fitting with the challenge I think, comic colour makes it lively and eyecatching, especially with all of Asher’s coils

his whole body is very useful as a naga lol he doesn't have to use his hands for much of anything.

There's nothing wrong with that, if there the same characters then it'll be the same colours. I stick with the same colours (but yeah I get the need to attempt attempt different palettes now and then but seldom ever do)

yeah but i feel like my work has no sense of aesthetic, it's just "well that's what the color in the reference i was inspired by used so let's go with that" and never base it on the characters skin tone or hair and eye color or anything like that... so it looks... awful, for lack of a better word.

Well you did a great job with the snake half, at least the graduation from thick to thin at the tail is smooth and not lumpy lol, that's where I have issues with long bodies or tails.
Have you considered setting yourself up a character colour chart? Asher has a set colour scheme with red, black, and cream, and Lear is brown, green, and purple (main colours), that's the basics, from there you can change it up with different shadow colours, like for Asher you could use red to shade, and for Lear it could be purple or brown. Think about the type of feel you want for each character. Lear is earthy, so use earthy colours. Asher is more (I don't know how best to describe this) but 'sharp', as in, there's a distinct definition between his colours. I don't imagine he'd ever match multiple colours together, probably only one item of his outfit would be bright as an accent while the rest would be classic black

I actually do have a color chart for all of them, because it's hard to look for usable images in past files lol so it's easier to just have one sheet with dots on it.
I feel like Asher needs to have a skin tone change because he's too grey. I need to adjust Lear's pants and shirt shade.
I also like to dress Lear in blacks or yellows. I have an autumn color palette for Asher because someone told me he'd probably look better in autumn clothes (i'd been trying to put him in pinks and such) and they were right, which is why his outfit is not black shirt and red pants.
