Description
Pont du Gard, France. The image of this magnificent architecture always shows up in our Western History textbooks. I'd seen it numerousl times on books and TV, so I was thrilled when I finally got to see it with my very own eyes.
The scenery there was absolutely beautiful, and the river below the bridge looked like some kind of sapphire... The structure of the bridge also looked fascinating. It always amazes me that a construction could survive such a long time...

So do I. I love looking at Roman architecture, but I want to see the REAL thing one day. It's on my list of things I want to see before I die.

Hah, I was about to say it looks Roman, until clicking into the link you gave and realizing that that may have been stating the obvious ever so slightly The Romans knew how to build to last, that is for darn sure. The Roman city wall in London is wonderful, but this is simply amazing

So true! The Romans were really great at building such endurable architecture. The Roman city wall in London sounds pretty fascinating, you're so lucky to be able to see it in your country!

The Romans definitely had their heads in the future, always planning ahead, and always ahead of their time The Roman city wall is really incredible, and it's so odd that it is just kind of sitting there in places all around the City of London (the main square mile in the middle), with hotels and business centers and highstreets all around it
I was very lucky indeed to see it, although the context of this visit was a little strange -- I was on a Jack the Ripper tour of the City of London with my school

A Jack the Ripper tour? Goodness, that sounds so interesting! It would be even more awesome if you were on that city tour at night. That would be very scary.
Aww, now you're making me want to go to England... Hopefully I can go visit it someday!

Lol, I think they booked the tour deliberately during the day for that reason. It was really creepy, though. The tour guide kept saying things like; "And that is the church that prostitutes circled, where he picked up two of his victims", and, "And this is a copy of the letter he sent to the chief of police, along with a kidney", and, "And they found her disembowelled body lying in a pool of blood right there-" (and pointed to where a friend of mine was standing. She fainted about six seconds later).
You should come! I really think you'll love it Maybe that can be your next Europe trip

... oh dear, I wish I could go to a field trip like that! Even though the excursion could be quite spooky, it's still pretty cool when you just realize that you're wandering through the very same streets where those important historical incidents took place centuries ago...

The whole of England is like that! Dude! You have to come here if you like the idea of being where key historical figures have been! They've been everywhere!!! We went to Hever Castle and I was in the room where Anne Boleyn was taken before she was beheaded! Or how about the dungeons at Warwick, where you can see where 16th century prisoners carved messages into the walls?!

... dammit, now I'm so jealous of you! You're making me want to abandon everything and fly to England immediately to visit every site you've mentioned...
