Description
This is a wallpaper im working on, I do intend on releasing a wallpaper size but there are some quality issues i have resolve on the buddha's edges before I submit it at a larger size.I took this picture myself at Lan tau island (Hong Kong), its a Bronze Buddha that was built in the Tang Dynasty (618 A.D. to 907 A.D.) see here for other shots: [link]
Not sure about the swirly detail but I really wanted to include it. It's based on a sketch I did: [link]

Gorgeous.
I love the minimalism.
Just a quick note about the date however:
This was built in 1993, not the Tang Dynasty.

Hey this looks amazing..
Here's a request - when you're doing the wallpaper, can you make a version where the Buddha's on the right too? Cuz i have my taskbar on the left..
Thnxx if you do indeed consider this.

It's a great picture (& I think I'll use it as my desktop) but there's just one thing --
you've typoed "Tranquility" (it says Tranqulity)
eh, a little clone stamp fixes that right up, but still. I dunno if anyone pointed this out yet. Not in the first three pages of comments.

this is a nice piece! To bad for the little error in the typo..
It's 'Tranquility' instead of 'Tranqulity'!
Great work though!

makes a great wallpaper, very inspiring as well 0_o
I don't know what the swirly bits are supposed to represent, but to me it looks like vectorised smoke n_n, which is fantastic.

Lol, I immediately recognised this the moment I saw it in someone's favourites. Ah, I remember going to Lantau on a regular basis, being Buhddist and all. It's a very good photograph though.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but you've spelt "Tranquility" as "Tranqulity" in the image. But other than that, I love it. The photo, the typo and the swirly details are really impressive.

glorious!
if you would move the text, and what not, up and fitted into the upper-righthand corner - well you'd have a 8 out of 10.
a slightly more saturated sky would score you a 9.
a frame would, of course finish off this grand piece.
a fantastic look indeed.

i like the swirly. not sure if it suits the photo, though...
how did you produce the white swirly? (what tool in what program?)

lee25 In reply to punkie078 [2006-05-20 12:02:50 +0000 UTC]
thanks,
I made the swirly bit in Adobe illustrator cs2 using the pen tool to trace a scan of my sketch. I then exported it to photoshop as a smart layer.

hmm...great job. i find it difficult to make very thin lines in photoshop...i dunno if it's any different for illustrator...

I've never mangaged to make any vectors using the pen tool in photoshop it totaly confuses me :S Its much simpler for me to draw it in illustrator, then copy and paste it into PS as a smart layer

super, i think the illustration really suits it, love the style, so free, great ...
not so sure about the big boxes on the left though, think they might be a bit overpowering, less tranquil i suppose..?
