Description My first Inside Out fan art. I'm very happy with this. Fear is my favorite character. Not only do I tend to be drawn to the nerd characters but he fascinated me. I tend to see things in characters most people don't. When I first saw the film I was baffled by Fear being portrayed as a coward as I'm used to other representations of him being the object of fear.  Think Freddy Kruger. But I also realized that Fear in this movie is a child. So I though it would be great if he eventually learned just what power he has. Another thing that is interesting is that in real life fear is more powerful than anger. It is the most powerful emotion and with that in mind I got this idea. Tired of getting smashed into the console, punched and burned all the time by Anger, Fear finally discovers his true powers and it's time for some pay back.  What would scare Anger? Well being a fire type I'm sure he wouldn't like a huge wall of water coming out to put out his fire for good. I see this potential in Fear and love that he's this cool in reality. His powers change depending on who he's scaring.  What's more powerful than knowing your biggest weakness and exploiting it?

I don't think I've ever colored anything with so much purple before. I tend to use mostly blues/aquas in my art as that's my favorite color.

I finally have a full story for this. This is a turning point scene from my comic Fear Before the Fall.

Yes. Wish Scary Fear around Anger won't easily be getting the upper hand anymore.

Yes. I removed it because you were faving too much without commenting.  Most of my friends and I ask that this be done. We work hard on our art and like to know why people liked it.  Same for the comic pages. I'd appreciate hearing what you liked about them at times.

Anger finally got to say that curse word, I see.

And Scary Fear's presence alone is intimidating.

Yes he finally did.  This Anger will have a bit of a potty mouth.
Yes agreed. You only need to look at him and be afraid.

I kind of like this idea of Scary Fear (sorry I got the name wrong earlier). Generally, when I hear the word fear, I can't imagine it without relating to evil.

Leeanix In reply to Mustache-Twirler [2015-12-03 18:19:38 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. That's ok.  Sometimes he calls himself Nightmare because he can cause them and mess dreams up so I didn't bother to correct you.   Yes same here. It's one of the problems I had when I saw the movie. I've never seen the emotion portrayed as a coward.  It's usually causing Fear and that's so much more interesting.

I enjoy being on the same track. Actually, I have a question... Should Fear (rather than Hate) be the opposite of Love?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leeanix In reply to Mustache-Twirler [2015-12-03 19:47:39 +0000 UTC]

No.  The opposite of fear is courage but fear is much more complex than that.  There are things we should fear.  The role in the movie of fear being in charge of safety is a valid one.  Just could have done with all the pointless freaking out.

Mustache-Twirler In reply to Leeanix [2015-12-03 21:56:25 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you there, I like to think of it as a safety mechanism as well, especially when wasps are around me, I'm still nervous of them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leeanix In reply to Mustache-Twirler [2015-12-03 22:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes that's what it's like. I'm not afraid of wasps but I respect them. I don't want to get stung. I know it will hurt a lot. So if I see a nest I avoid it.

I'm actually like that with spiders, they simply back themselves to the ends of the ceiling, so I don't bother with them.

Payback's a bitch, Anger.

I have to say, I read your journal entry behind the origins of this guy (which intrigues me so much, but I'll go into that more when I comment on it), and I am really glad you changed his powers from water/ice to electricity, for the reasons you mentioned. Makes so much sense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leeanix In reply to Shychick [2015-11-28 12:27:59 +0000 UTC]

This has been coming for a lng time.
Oh nice. I look forward to hearing your comments on that journal. Yes I am too. This is much better and more realistic. This wave is because of his fear powers not his built in powers which is his electricity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shychick In reply to Leeanix [2015-11-28 19:05:15 +0000 UTC]

I absolutely love that he has the power to see and manifest one's darkest fears, and command them against whoever he wishes. Makes him that much more worthy of respect.. and awe.

I love your page's quote, btw: "Better to be feared than loved"... really sums him up perfectly. And now that I understand that he is not a tragic character, that goes double for foolish pity. To pity him would be insulting, correct? This is who he was truly meant to be.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leeanix In reply to Shychick [2015-11-28 21:19:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes what an awesome power it would be to have. Ah but you know he doesn't go for other's biggest weakness. He attacks on all levels.  Sometimes he likes to dismantle piece by peace.  "Know how you always miss that one question on the math test that always keeps you from getting that A?  Yes I know all about that."  Is something he'd say to one of his victims. Little fears like that. He goes for those as well.  It's not always about utterly destroying you.

Oh I love that quote it's so perfect for him. Ah excellent. Yes unnecessary pity is very insulting to him when he does not feel bad about himself.  BTW, I have this sketch dump I did I think you'll like where he uses that quote and says is so causally.

Fear's Power looks to me, like he would be in Terror (Ultra Fear) State (comparable to the Avatar State from Avatar: The Legend of Aang the Last Airbender and Korra the first "modern" Avatar).

Leeanix In reply to DaniOskar [2015-10-23 16:22:06 +0000 UTC]

He's definitely intent on Terrorizing Anger and getting him back for what he did.  I don't know anything about Avatar.  But he can exploit the fears of others and bring them to life in the real world or just mess inside your head. His choice. Thanks for the comment. Glad you liked my drawing.

Your welcome.
(The Terror State seems to be one of the 5 Ultra Emotion States, in which their emotional Power is raised by the Expotent of their own emotional Power [in clear English they become godlike in that State])
(A List of the 5 Ultra Emotion States:
Anger = Rage [Imagine a bloodthirsty Berserker, like Kratos www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1ompK…]
Sadness = Despair [flooding everything with her Tears, like Alice, when she grew so big, that she couldn't leave the Room www.youtube.com/watch?v=di7dZw…]
Disgust = Prejudice [Honest Opinion about everything and critical Germophoby]
Fear = Terror [No Need to explain]
and
Joy = Ecstasy [Angelic Aura, similar to Princess Zelda and Princess Peach Toadstool (Hover Jump)]

As for the Avatar Part, look over here zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%99%8…
(Translation) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_…
(Geez, it's hard to believe, that out there in this World is a Teenage Girl/Young Woman, which never watched Avatar, unless she never watched Nickelodeon)

I am familiar with Kratos. I have played his games and they were great.  Loved how violent it was and accurate to the mythology.
Thanks for explaining that.

Well I don't like anime. I gave up on it in the 90's.  And then I quite television in the 00's.  I'm an 80s child so I'm neither a teen or a young woman.  I'm an adult woman.

Sorry about that, I couldn't figure out your Age.
As for your Opinion about Avatar, I don't mind it. Since you quitted watching TV in the 00s, it's clear to me, why you never heard about that Series, since it has been created in 2005 and The Legend of Korra in 2012.
