My first Inside Out fan art. I'm very happy with this. Fear is my favorite character. Not only do I tend to be drawn to the nerd characters but he fascinated me. I tend to see things in characters most people don't. When I first saw the film I was baffled by Fear being portrayed as a coward as I'm used to other representations of him being the object of fear. Think Freddy Kruger. But I also realized that Fear in this movie is a child. So I though it would be great if he eventually learned just what power he has. Another thing that is interesting is that in real life fear is more powerful than anger. It is the most powerful emotion and with that in mind I got this idea. Tired of getting smashed into the console, punched and burned all the time by Anger, Fear finally discovers his true powers and it's time for some pay back. What would scare Anger? Well being a fire type I'm sure he wouldn't like a huge wall of water coming out to put out his fire for good. I see this potential in Fear and love that he's this cool in reality. His powers change depending on who he's scaring. What's more powerful than knowing your biggest weakness and exploiting it?I don't think I've ever colored anything with so much purple before. I tend to use mostly blues/aquas in my art as that's my favorite color.
I finally have a full story for this. This is a turning point scene from my comic Fear Before the Fall.

But I read your description, and I see it's interesting concept. You're right, actually fear is very, very strong emotion in every living creature's mind.
This is what protects from all dangerous things.
I still can't decide, who's my fav character in Inside Out, but probably Fear, since I love both his design and personality.
Due to your thoughts, I'm wondering what if producers made the original concept of the movie, and placed Fear instead of Sadness, to be a companion in Joy's journey. How Riley would behave and what she would learn?

Thank you for commenting this time. I'm glad you like my drawing. Yes he's the most powerful emotion and I really wanted to show that. You can literally be frozen in fear. It's a debilitating emotion in the extreme that can literally take over.
I'm glad he's your fave too and that you like my theories. I study psychology on the side and have been giving this a lot of thought as Fear is something I have contemplated for years now. I heard of that original concept and would so much have liked to have seen Joy and Fear lost in the brain as I could not stand Sadness at all

HAH I love this, when I first saw this I laughed. xD And for good reason... look how epic he looks here! Yes Fear just became 100 times more awesome. Not only is he a nerd, but he also has the ability to scare other feelings whenever he thinks he should. I'm most certainly am not surprised that he eventually got tired of Anger. It's great that he got back at him with Anger's worst fear... yes fire and water aren't the best combination. Especially if you're a fire-based entity. It's great that Fear eventually discovers this inner strength of this, since like you've stated he has the potential of being the most powerful emotion.

Thanks. I had a feeling you'd enjoy this. I find it interesting how our faves are also our order of preference. Yes he looks way cooler now. I always thought he was cute but got annoyed of him hiding and being a coward all the time. That's not what I think of when I think of Fear. So yes he finally realized what he really is and is way cooler now. And I realized something else. Doing this to him makes him one of those rare evil INTP's. I like Anger too. Like you these are my faves and probably my leads. But when I like a character you know they're in for it. So yes Anger needs to pay now. I also loved that I've had practice with this kind of thing and parallels my stories of Owen running from Thagirion only Thag is a more powerful fire type. Yes indeed. The other emotions can be controlled with discipline. But Fear seems to be the one uncontrollable very powerful one.
Thanks. Yep my faves too. I'm glad you like the water. I was worried about that. It gave me a hard time. Water is not my element and always gives me a hard time when I work with it. The reflection was a last minute idea and I think it made this even more wicked and frightening to see.
