My first Inside Out fan art. I'm very happy with this. Fear is my favorite character. Not only do I tend to be drawn to the nerd characters but he fascinated me. I tend to see things in characters most people don't. When I first saw the film I was baffled by Fear being portrayed as a coward as I'm used to other representations of him being the object of fear. Think Freddy Kruger. But I also realized that Fear in this movie is a child. So I though it would be great if he eventually learned just what power he has. Another thing that is interesting is that in real life fear is more powerful than anger. It is the most powerful emotion and with that in mind I got this idea. Tired of getting smashed into the console, punched and burned all the time by Anger, Fear finally discovers his true powers and it's time for some pay back. What would scare Anger? Well being a fire type I'm sure he wouldn't like a huge wall of water coming out to put out his fire for good. I see this potential in Fear and love that he's this cool in reality. His powers change depending on who he's scaring. What's more powerful than knowing your biggest weakness and exploiting it?I don't think I've ever colored anything with so much purple before. I tend to use mostly blues/aquas in my art as that's my favorite color.
I finally have a full story for this. This is a turning point scene from my comic Fear Before the Fall.

Now we just need the sweater, the hat, and the claws and he would look pretty well... funny, Freddy got burned alive and Fear is constantly beaten by someone who is literally on fire. Of course in his case I assume it could be more like creating images in someone's mind... basically what he and the others do anyway. But those images can kill if you live in Elmstreet, so still beware.
I like how two reflections are visible in the tidal wave. Certainly enhancing this quite well.
Since I read your comment on Chris... wouldn't it be actually rather fun if one's own Fear was more like someone who gave you tips on how to scare the living Hell out of people? Until he escapes and takes over the world, because he grew up in an INTJ brain.

I sort of gave him claws but they are small ones. Yes that's an interesting comparison. Yeah quite interesting if his powers had affect in the real world.
The reflection was a last minute addition that I think really makes this piece.
That's a great idea. In touch with my fear. If he can perceive better what others fear then he would be most helpful. It always turns into taking over the world with INTJ's.

The hard work paid off! This looks wicked!! Fear takes on a whole new role in this turn of events.
I like how Anger is running for his life and Fear looks ominous without pupils. The water looks good too! Love that purple glow. The reflections in the tidal waves are creepy cool.
I can just hear Fear laughing like Freddy Kruger. AAAHHH HAAAHAAAHAAAA! "Looks like Riley's brain could use a steam bath." AAAAAHHHH AHAHAHAHAHA lol

Yeah, poor Anger but he probably deserved it. Part of my wanted to draw his purple pupils all fancy the way I made Anger's eyes. But I had to go for that evil look. When he uses his powers his eyes glow purple.
Yes he'd finally be enjoying himself because other people's fears would give him power. Ha, forget Riley. Not sure who's brain this is. Probably mine if they haven't escaped into the real world.
