Here is the Elk Tutorial requested by Scylothia [link] (I don’t know how to link a picture), before anything is asked I just want to add some points.

1. These are not the definite facts on antler growth, there will always be some exceptions. Some elk have upwards cups (But ONLY red deer have the 3 prong cup), some red deer may have open cups. These steps are based on my own observations while I have been studying and drawing deer and elk.

2. I understand this is only part of a tutorial, I do not do into body, partly because I have never done a tutorial before and secondly because I have spent so long in learning antlers I find them the hardest obstacle for starting to draw deer.

3. Finally, I apologise for the hunting photo below, I do not endorse hunting for sport in any way I just think this picture is a good for showing the curves in the tines of Elk. I do not wish to cause a debate over the topic of game hunting.
