Description
Happy 20th Anniversary to the Pokemon series! I meant to begin making artwork for the 20th yesterday (Feb. 27th), but I got a late start because I couldn't decide on which project to do first, Anyway, I finally decided to start off with a bio for Pokemon Trainer Red so, here's the usual description:A bio page for Red, the very first hero of the Pokemon franchise and the main protagonist of Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, FireRed, and LeafGreen, in The Crossover Game, my massive crossover idea.
This details his Biography, Variations, and Appearances.
For the difference between Forms and Variations, see here: leehatake93.deviantart.com/art…
The movesets in the imaginary game are a cross between Super Smash Bros and PlayStation All-Stars. As in Smash, each character has four special moves and a Final Smash. Mimicking All-Stars, each character has multiple finishing moves, rather than only one. A Super Smash can result in a transformation or inflict a lot of damage, however, it is not guaranteed to result in an instant KO. On the other hand, a Final Smash is guaranteed to instantly KO opponents, providing that it can hit its target.
Due to the limited size of the "Appears In" box, I wasn't able to list Red's entire video game/animated legacy (which would have resulted in the text being too small to read), so I primarily focused on all of his playable and boss appearances, plus the GameCube games and my own "Pokemon Legends" fanfiction idea. The appearances that I left out of his legacy are Pokemon Silver (Game Boy Color) (not listed because I don't currently own nor have I played Silver), Pokemon Stadium 2 (Nintendo 64), Pokemon Emerald (GBA) (I didn't list Ruby and Sapphire because Red appears as Brendan in those games due to FireRed/LeafGreen being released later), and Pokemon Origins (--). (I don't include his manga appearances because I haven't read them yet, nor do I own any physical manga volumes of Pokemon).
An interesting thing to note about Red is that, unlike in Super Smash Bros Brawl, he is actually playable alongside his Pokemon, much like Yugi Muto in Jump Superstars and both the Puppet Masters and Pain in the Naruto video games. Though his Pokemon still do most of the fighting for him, a few of his moves are derived from the Pokemon series, such as riding his bicycle, using a Super Rod, and throwing dirt and rocks (as in the Safari Zone). Most of the Pokemon Trainers in the Crossover Game share this with Red, though not all of them use the same items, and some don't use items at all. Another thing to note is that Red's Classic Variation has alternate costumes that change the Pokemon in his party, thus giving him three potential movesets within a single variation. These moveset changes reflect on Red's appearances in Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow. This also applies to Red's "World Tournament" variation. More information on this will be posted below.
Without further ado, I present Red's variations:
VARIATIONS:
Classic: Based on Red's original incarnation, this variation contains three movesets based on Red's parties in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Each alternate moveset is indicated by a different costume. The Pokemon Red moveset is indicated by Red's outfit from the original artwork. Red's Pokemon Blue moveset is indicated by a design based on his original sprite, which portrayed Red wearing a long-sleeved jacket and a different hat. Red's Pokemon Yellow moveset is indicated by his default costume wearing a yellow shirt, with his hat turned backward in a similar fashion to additional artwork of Red from Generation I, and of Ash Ketchum whenever he would participate in a Pokemon battle. Despite his Pokemon team being different with each costume, all three movesets share the same Super Smash and Final Smash.
LeafGreen: Red's appearance in LeafGreen, the first Generation III Kanto game I bought and the one that I play as Red in. His moveset is based on his party from said game.
World Tournament: Red's appearance in the Johto and Unova games. His moveset is based on his Pokemon team from the Pokemon World Tournament in Black 2 and White 2, which is the same Pokemon team he uses in HeartGold and SoulSilver. His alternate costume is that of his modern appearance, but wearing his classic outfit with his original hairstyle. Changing to this costume replaces the Lapras from HGSS/BW2 with the Espeon he used in Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
Super Smash Bros: This variation of Red is based on his appearance as "Pokemon Trainer" in Super Smash Bros Brawl, as well as giving his Charizard access to its moveset from Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U. However, unlike in Super Smash Bros Brawl, all of Red's Pokemon now have four special moves instead of three. As such, the "Pokemon Change" move has been turned into Red's side taunt. Unlike most characters, this Red has four taunts. His down taunt is the "PokeDex Entry" Smash Taunt, and his up taunt is the tradition taunt used to cheer on his Pokemon. He has two side taunts, which both change his Pokemon. Unlike his "Pokemon Change" special in Super Smash Bros Brawl, the Pokemon don't have to follow the pre-set "Squirtle-Ivysaur-Charizard" order. The side taunts allow Red to cycle between his Pokemon in either direction, however, they still follow a pre-set order. He can either cycle through them in the "Squirtle-Ivysaur-Charizard" order, or through the order of "Charizard-Ivysaur-Squirtle".
