This is what I've come up with so far, and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be. I definitely have to add more detail to the skin.IGNORE THE EAR!!! IT'S NO WHERE NEAR DONE. As a matter of fact, I haven't even worked on the ear in this picture yet.
This was all done from scratch using the various paintbrush tools. I don't want to give in and use the clone tool on a skin sample, because that would just be taking the easy way out. For those of you who don't know, I could use the clone tool to duplicate the skin from a photograph. In that case I wouldn't have actually made the skin myself.
Can anyone recommend any tutorials? I don't feel like looking up any right now. I'm tired.
Sooo, this is just a work in progress as so far. I don't expect you to like it a lot yet. Give me time.

Looks like it's coming along ^^ Yea a style like this is very picky I find, but you'll get it I'm sure ^^
As for tutorials I have a few I like, because they are easy to follow or they have a good technique, mind you I've only used like two of them lol but You might find something that helps you with your style ^^

Hey Nami, thanks for those tutorial links. They are going to help me a lot.
The first one, I liked how she used masks to restrict shading to the boundaries of the flat colors. That is going to be VERY useful. Also, some of the ideas she poses for shading can be useful.
The second one is going to help me A LOT with shading. I think this is going to take the most practice however.
