omg its a "rowboat bug"! (as me and my sisters call them)
ahaha! I wish nintendo/game freak would get creative like this! They always reuse the same bugs over and over. I want more variety like this! This is cool! =o

Omg I know right? Me and my sis LOVED catching them in our hands in our pool for a long time till one bit or pinched or whatever it did and we were kinda scared of them from then on. But we still liked watching them. One of my favorite insects though is the muddauber wasp. now THOSE guys are interesting to watch!

backswimmers are true bugs, so what they are doing is jabbing their mouth part into you and injecting digestive acid. in true bugs like giant water bugs/"toe biters", they can actually cause permanent tissue damage.
omg mud daubers! I LOVE those guys!

Ewww kay! Now I like backswimmers a heck of a lot less! That creeps me out. =o
Still love mud daubers though. I did find out recently that those guys CAN sting, but they are so very non-aggressive that they do so rarely.. Heck, I accidentally put my hand down on one and it still didn't try to sting me. <3

well to be fair that's what spiders do as well. the nests mud daubers make are really cool too. only ever been able to find a couple of them, most of the time accidentally. then I feel bad when I accidentally break them

Aww yeah I know right? I always leave them alone if I notice them since I know they don't hurt anyone. My mom's husband almost went out and sprayed raid on one one time and I had to beg him to stop and luckily he did before he sprayed it.

good thing he didn't kill it. mud daubers kill spiders, which most people appreciate (although I find kind of sad because I love spiders)

Yeah, I am glad of that. I should have actually mentioned that to him since he hates spiders so much. I'm a bit afraid of spiders but I do like the grass spiders we have around here. He tried to kill one of those once too but I told them they are really non aggressive and prefer to run than to bite, which is true.
I do like though that mud daubers will keep Black Widows away because I am extremely fearful of those for obvious reasons and I don't tolerate them ever. I am extra fearful of them after one time I dug out a plant from a broken giant pot and drug the plant all the way around the house to my porch only to find black widows streaming out of it a moment later.. I had had my hands all in that thing just moments before and somehow, luckily, didn't get bitten. I was so scared for my life and I was ultra paranoid of every little tickle or breeze for the next week at least. Really frightening.
So yeah. I don't like spiders much, but I will tolerate the less aggressive ones. If I find them in my house, I usually catch them in a cup and let them go outside. I do this with scorpions too. Although they freak me out, I don't like the idea of killing them, and I know their nature well enough and know how to catch them in a cup without getting hurt. I really just don't like the idea of senselessly snuffing out something's life just because it creeps me out. But if it's a threat like and especially a black widow, I will still feel bad, but I won't hesitate to kill it.

I believe this is based on a Common Backswimmer. I've been bitten by one, too.
