edit: not sure why I didn't post the link sooner, but here is additional info and some other ideas of mine, including ideas for the other bosses. also, to answer some questions asked earlier, YES, there is a BoC equivalent, now called the True Cthulhu Cortex (true version of the regular Cthulhu Cortex, which is the equivalent of the regular Destroyer). the TCC fights similarly to Ocram (and would be the pc equivalent of so) but doesn't do as much damage as the true destroyer. I want the TD to be stronger and harder to fight (but only slightly so). another person brought up the Wall of Steel, and thought it would be a better end game boss. (link for the lazy) I was planning on doing something called the Iron Curtain, which is a similar idea, but doesn't work quite the same (I want to do something different). while it technically would be end game, it would NOT be the final boss, the True bosses taking that title. the IC is required to get the item to make the mysterious device, which summons the respective boss (TCC in a corruption world, TD in a crimson world. you CANNOT summon both in any given world. they drop roughly the same stuff though so it doesn't really matter anyways) the IC would be, however, the last boss that you could fight using only stuff you got out of the world you're fighting in. the true bosses require items from BOTH kinds of worlds, and it is impossible to make the Mysterious Device without them (for example, both crimtane bars and demonite bars are needed in the recipe). I'm still working on how the bosses will attack, I'll provide more details when I actually get the boss pictures uploaded. now one thin thing I will say though, is that the bosses will give a tiny window into the backstory of terraria itself, and the guide will mention a little as well. again, it will be a very, very small amount, just enough to make you think, not the entire written history of terraria.

if you look closely at the side of the head, you can see that it's the same colors as the EoW underneath. it's actually a cyborg. thing on the right is the current destroyer, for scale, and my character, also for scale.

HOLY SHIT THIS TOOK FOREVER TO MAKE hi guys, how's it been? sorry I've been gone so much... I'd like to say I have a good excuse, but really all I did was play Minecraft and Terraria the whole time. I feel exceptionally lazy... but, last night I was able to whip this up, and by whip I mean five or six hours at staring at my second monitor to try and get this done ASAP. my eyes never ached so much...
any who, who here plays Terraria? because if you do, I'm sure you're familiar with the fact that The Destroyer is already a boss in Terraria. thing that bothers me though is the destroyer is a hardmode version of the EoW, which is a corruption only boss (you cannot naturally fight him in a crimson world, you have to fight the Brain of Cthulhu instead) but the destroyer can/has to be fought in both types of worlds. where's the mechanical brain? surely there should be a robotic Brain of Cthulhu you have to fight INSTEAD of The Destroyer.
so where does this come in? well, since the release of Terraria 1.2, I've contemplated on this idea where there would be a "final boss", which takes advantage of the fact there are two basic world types. basically, in a corruption world, you have to fight a pumped up version of the robotic version of the BoC (haven't thought of a name yet, any suggestions?) and in a crimson world, you have to fight this, which is a pumped up version of the normal Destroyer. You won't get to fight it until EVERY boss/boss event is down, including the upcoming lunar boss (if they ever actually make it). when killed, rather than dropping souls of might like the normal version does, it will drop souls of twilight, which are used to craft the BEST stuff in the entire game, including a sword that combines the Terra Blade, The Horseman's Blade, Christmas Tree Sword, Vampire Knives, and Scourge of the Corrupter.
this will be the biggest monster/entity in the entire game. it will also be stronger than the robotic BoC due to being fought in a crimson world (crimson based stuff is all stronger than the original stuff). it's so large that only part of it will be in the foreground. the parts in the background are 100% transparent and can't be interacted with (which means they can't hurt you either). it's supposed to be exactly 102 segments long, 1 head/100 body/1 tail, but i might have fucked up the number of segments while making this so the picture might be slightly off. now, this is just the top, I plan on making a side view of it as well, so it looks more realistic and has more range of attacks than just "dig". also, the green segments aren't just there for decoration; green lights release "cursed probes", which shoot cursed flames at the player, and the red ones release "lazer probes" which shoot death lazers. the things on the side of the segments shoot bullets as well, green for cursed bullets and red for crystal.
some of the things he would do:
first attacks like the normal Destroyer for a minute or two
can turn to the side to launch ranged attacks
can breath cursed flames attacks that resemble Spazmatism's second form attack that remains on the ground for a few seconds after being fired, similar to greek fire launched from Mourning Woods/Pumpking
will sometimes vomit large amounts of vile spit, corrupting everything it touches (even though you'll be in a crimson world) changes any Crimtane ore it touches into Demonite ore
when it strikes the ground, causes tremors that inflict damage to all nearby entities
has a grappling tongue with snatcher AI that grabs the player and pulls them in, inflicting damage the entire time
fires death lazers like the normal Destroyer
can grab and fling the player a great distance, inflicting massive fall damage to players without accessories that negate it
can fling itself high in the air like a whale, then fall on it's side to create shock waves. can also reach high platforms while doing this to reach the player
will sometimes swipe it's tail from side to side in a similar manner to the Prime Saw
can actually swallow the player. when this happens, it will cause suffocation to the player, and steal any HP the player loses while inside it. however, it's defense is ZERO while you are inside it, and you can still attack from the inside. it will spit you out, along with more vile spit, after a few seconds
will sometimes rapidly fire bullets at the same rate as projectiles from ranged attacks during pumpkin/frost moon events. bullets cover large range and are difficult to avoid, as all the "guns" on it's side that are in the foreground and exposed will fire at the player
if you die while fighting it, it will NOT despawn. it will chase you back to your spawn point or where ever you are and continue attacking
also, if you teleport away, it will chase after you back to wherever you went. the only way for it to despawn is killing it
can be fought regardless of the time of day/night, and, again, will not leave until defeated
can summon corruption enemies to fight for it, including EoWs
when about to fire projectiles from its mouth, particles will fall from its mouth that indicate what it's about to use: barfy-green indicates vile spit, green embers indicate cursed flames, water particles when it's about to launch it's tongue
as damaged, it will launch Cursed and Lazer Probes to attack the player
has 200,000 health, and when it's hp is cut in half, it will grow mandibles and inflict more damage, like with boss alternate forms
first phase head does 50 damage, body does 30, and tail does 45. defenses are 40, 50, and 38 respectively
second phase inflicts 100, 60, and 90 damage and has 20, 25, and 19 defense respectively
death lazer does 22 damage first phase, 30 second phase
cursed flamethrower does 30 base damage first phase, 45 second phase. inflicts cursed inferno
vile spit vomit does 65 base damage both phases. inflicts weak to players without negating items (vitamins, armor bracing, ankh shield) unlike corruptors' vile spit as of 1.2, it WILL spread corruption
tongue does 40 base damage. the tongue has a separate health bar and can be destroyed. it would have 18000 hp, the same amount as Santa-NK1
bullets do 20 base damage. crystal bullets do an additional 10 base damage whereas cursed bullets inflict the cursed inferno
tremors do 50 base damage first phase, 75 second. also have strong knockback
tail also has separate health bar and can be destroyed. has 30,000 HP
mandibles inflict 70 base melee damage and are only present second phase. have a 20% chance to inflict bleeding. they can be destroyed and have 30,000 hp as well. destroying them will not change The True Destroyer back to its first phase, however
the size of the segments is purely aesthetic, it does not effect the damage or defense
killing it will cause the corruption, crimson, and hallow to behave as it would pre-hardmode again
hopefully I didn't forget anything. when it dies, it drops the following:
souls of twilight (50-125) 100%
True Destroyer trophy 100% (as opposed to other boss trophy drop rates of 10%)
purple solution (20-40) 100%
cursed flames (10-20) 20%
mechanical core (used to craft steampunk wings) 10%
between 4 plat 10 gold to 5 plat
I'll probably increase the picture size to 200% due to the fact that's how large it would be in game. Still need to sprite the tongue, mandibles, and the entire side view. the mouth will actually be shaped like a tyrannosaurus's mouth, and it would be able to open and close while in side view.
feel free to use ANY of this. and gimme a link. I would play the shit out of a mod made from this. seriously, if someone wants to code any of this, go right ahead, right now it's just a concept sadly. (I would like credit though plz) will update as more gets done.

Ok, I'm fine with criticism, but there is a HUGE difference between legitimate criticism and just being an asshole. Ok, you're not a fan of the artwork. I get that. But saying things like "it seems you didn't put any effort at all into this" and "well its terrible" is just plain hurtful. Also, 1) it makes a ton of assumptions (like why the hell would you say I didn't put any work into this? I spent hours working on this), 2) it doesn't add anything to the picture, and 3) doesn't help me improve anything. Please be respectful when commenting on things others have made, regardless of whether you like it or not.
That being said, I never claimed it was perfect, although at the time I was proud of it. I made it from scratch based on the design of the Destroyer, as the TDoW is meant to be the grandaddy of regular Destroyers. Saying it's nothing but a recolor/edit is pretty insulting, especially because I went out of my way to make sure it was NOT one. And I agree, it needs improving, which is why I keep doing it over and over until I get it just right.
I'm not sure what you mean by "banding", but if your talking about the rings between the segments are meant to represent where the segments would bend. The regular Destroyer lacks anything like this, so it just bends at where the segments meet, making it look like it's made of rubber.
Either way, you definitely need to work on your etiquette before commenting things like this on other people's artwork. People wont take your comment seriously and it only makes you look rude.

I suggest you take this to TCF if you haven't already. There are seasoned veterans in the suggesting department who would give great criticism and feedback. Also, that's where the devs spend a lot of time, and they've implemented a few community suggestions into the upcoming 1.3 update.

Now that's a really challenging boss! Me and my friend would gladly raise our Blizzard Staves and Flairons against him ^_^ Damn, I wish it could exist! I would add some really powerful weapon to the list of drop... My idea is "True Destroyer's Targeting Module" Doesn't sound like a weapon? Well, maybe. But it is! It is like Blizzard Staff, but bombards the area with laser pulses from the sky (like fired from an orbital satellite) Yeah, maybe stupid idea, ut I love technologically advanced weapons...
Great job, I would really gladly add it if I knew anything about modding. You sir, did a great job!

that's actually a really good weapon idea! I was planning on the TD/TCC to drop three weapons (well, one of three per battle) one of which will be The Cyborg's Blade (melee oriented), but was having trouble coming up with a good magic weapon. mind if I use this idea?
(also, if you like techno-based stuff, I actually made a Mechanical set if your interested (far right)(TD and TCC would also drop Armor Shards, which are used to craft these))

Cool! Of course, feel free to use the idea, I'm glade you llike it :3 And I would also add a fourth, summoning weapon, maybe a probe that will shot lasers, similiar Retinazer from Optic Staff, but more powerful? Or a flying, automatic rocket launcher?
Wow, now that's some really cool stuff, I wish I could craft this set ^-^ And those Spectre weapons is totally awesome, especially the sword and repeater!

you know, now that you mention it summon is going to be its own class now with 1.3. I mean, it kind of is now, but not as much as it's going to be. guess it's time to include the new group!

Yeah, they stated that they will make new minion modifiers and items, continiuing the creation of the summoner class in 1.2. Actually I played as a summoner and it totally rocks now, but has a really hard beginning, especially before getting the Nimbus Rod (fighting the Twins even with that weapon is torment, but once you obain the Optic Staff, things become much less complicated)
No problem ^-^ And here comes my idea for Spectre minion - summon a spirit that attacks enemies in melee range. It could travel through blocks and fly (like Sharknado, but without shooting at enemies, only making direct contact with them and dealing damage that way), so it would be a direct upgrade to melee minions like pirates or spiders. And imagine having an army of spirits that would chase foes, seeking for vengeance. Just like a true necromancer

oh god I can't imagine fighting the twins stationary like D: I'll admit I've only ever specialized in melee (or ranged for the twins/skeletron prime via 1.1), so I can't imagine fighting with summoning items. seems like it would be a nightmare dodging all the attacks while your minions tried to hit stuff
I like that idea. pair that with the Necro Armor in the vanity slot and your good to go! hmm, on that note, seems like a skeleton summoning item would be pretty cool too. they run around being all 2SPOOKY and throwing bones at enemies

Well, actually my strategy with summoner is: get the Golden Shower, Spider Armor and Nimbus Rod. With those items and wings, my fight is pretty much like: place coulds and try to make The Twins go in them as much as possible, while firing the Golden Shower to deal damage and apply the debuff. Your Imp and spiders (along with Queen Spider Staff) should take care of the rest.
Oh, Skeletons, like in Diablo II <3 That would be so epic. Or maybe two or three versions of the Skeleton Staff: melee, ranged and magic: of course melee would do most damage and has best attack speed, but with typical melee flaws. Ranged would be like pygmy but better, and magic could have piercing/homing weapon but doing less damage than others (for balance purposes) Maybe too much, but I really like this concept ^-^

man, things got so much more complicated since 1.1. I remember when I had to run backwards spamming them with cursed and crystal bullets along a long, long runway dodging spazzy. now there's all this combo stuff that you can do that's faster and more efficient. plus vampire daggers. those and turtle armor make a complete joke out of most of the bosses. sometimes I miss the thrill of the older fights...
bro, if they were in like diablo, there would be no stopping them... but yeah, I like that Idea as well! maybe the melee one could throw regular bones (like the item), the magic one could throw a dark caster like orb (and teleport similar to one), and the ranged one could shoot bone fragments or something.

Ahh, Vampire Knives, I cann't imagine playing my summoner with that. Even best defensive armor for summoner gives only 35 more armor (setting) And dodging Spazmatism, that is a real fun, especially when playing melee. I must admit, if I hadn't aquired Titanium Armor and True Night's Edge, I'd really be in trouble fighting him in second phase. And yeah, in 1.1 it wass so much difficult, I hope the Expert Mode in 1.3 will make fights more challenging even with endgame gear.
Yeah, that's true, it would need some balance in damage and mechanics. And I really like your idea. I wish developers would read that conversation and get some of the ideas to game ^-^ And having a dark caster-ike minion sounds amazing!

yeah, guess a low defense would make vampire knives kinda useless, 10% absorption isn't very much when your taking 60+ damage every second. that being said, I don't think i'd be a very good summoner since I'm not well coordinated...
honestly I wouldn't fight the twins first anyways. the destroyer can be dealt with pretty easily with a phasesaber and Dao of Pow. then you can craft hallowed armor and a megashark to better deal with the twins (honestly the easiness with the destroyer is part of the reason I made the True Destroyer)
same here, although they can do that AFTER 1.3 is released. the anticipation is killing me! I hear they pay attention to the forums (although I'm to shy to post there :/ )

That's where good maneuvering comes to action - You need to fly around and use Vampire Knives/Golden Shower while letting your minions do the main chunk of damage. Foolish deaths at the beginning are really common, it's just a harder playthrough than other classes, but, at least for me, very entertaining. And powerful.
Well, statues can do the job and keep you alive for a pretty long time, and with Golden Shower it's not an impossible task. And having the Optic Staff makes other mechanical bosses much easier (I wasn't using the Megashark just to get more challenge, but I must admit I needed a few tries...
I'm shy too, but in other way... More connected to private life. But that's not the subject. IMHO those ideas are really great and more people should see them. I haven't posted on Terraria forums yet, but maybe I should now...
