shutdown your drawing skills and be in copy mode! when you guys get the process to work for you, you'd realize that it's easier than drawing from scratch.sketch was done in 10-15 minutes and I took a bit longer in coloring
My wife has already contracted me to do 2 drawings of my in-laws.... hehe....

I'm trying desperately to break out of copy mode. But one of the things I'm best at is getting likenesses, and I have to use refs to do that. And when I do other work, I use refs, but I try not to follow them religiously.
I'm still trying to train myself to draw what I see in my mind. And it doesn't always come out the way I want it to. Most of the stuff I draw without a ref constantly changes as I work on it. Do your pieces do that too? I'll start with one vision, and it turns into something completely different.
Thanks for posting this. It's one that is making me think about my method and the possibility of trying new things.

Ian McKellen has a really interesting face, incredibly simple to, shall i say, recreate with a pencil, if you just remember the details! I've tried a few times, and the results did actually come out very similar to him.
