“Why can’t I let go? I just can’t. Please leave me alone.”
“I loved him. He was always there for me, but his life went away with the sands of time…”
“I love you. I still do. I don’t understand. I’ve been here for so long, protected this place for so long, but why can’t I have happiness?”
As you looked at the world, it reflected in your dull (e/c) eyes, and upon sighing, you knew you have been alive for too long. It had already been a few hundred years since that man was reborn, once again. Every single time, he said the same thing: “See you in my next life...” But due to the laws of fate, he never did remember you. Those dark blue eyes of his… You were always so happy to see them.
You flew down from the heavens, and cast a spell on yourself, to make you look human, whilst freezing time. Settling down on the ground, you unfroze everything around you, and everything came back to life again. No one noticed your presence, and you looked around. In your exasperation to see him again, you accidentally knocked a stranger. “I’m so sorry, are you alright?” You glanced at the man, and to your surprise, it was the person you were looking for. It is ‘Lukas', the human you have been waiting for so long.
“I am fine.” Mumbling to you, he stands up, but falls down to the ground again, revealing his twisted ankle. You became alarmed, as you thought your immense divine strength had hurt him somehow. “Um, please come with me… I’ll treat your leg for you.” You helped him up, and supported him to his home. As you walked up to the door, you turned around to see ‘Lukas’ staring at you in confusion.
“Miss… How did you know where my house is?” Lukas looked at you with a blank expression like always, and you did not reply. It is against the law of fate to tell a human that I am a god… you reminded yourself. “Mr. Bondevi-“ “How did you even know my name? Are you some kind of stalker?” He refused to give up questioning you, but you ignored him anyway.
Because you were the god of creation, you could replicate anything, and so you pulled out a key to unlock Lukas’s house. Lukas stared at the key you produced in awe, and you opened the door, and settled Lukas down on a chair, and bringing out the medical supplies that he always kept in his kitchen cupboard. You didn’t want to create more things in front of a human, since the 5th reincarnation of Lukas was executed by his king because of your creations.
Watching you with eyes filled to the brim with suspicion, Lukas sat and let you bandage his foot. To his surprise again, you touched Lukas and the pain from his twisted ankle disappeared. “Miss… who are you? What is your name?” Lukas began asking you softly. You replied with reluctance while looking at his feet, “Lukas, I am (your name). I live near here and I also see you often, that’s all.” Finding the tone in your voice to be abnormal, Lukas forced you to face him, using his fingers to hold your chin up.
“Is that what you really are?” His glistening mysterious dark-blue eyes enchanted you just like that day… your eyes began to fill up with tears. How many times did he forget me? How many times did I have to tell him who I am? Your chest throbbed, and you tried to look away from the precious human you loved. Lukas wiped your eyes with his thumbs whilst embracing you in a hug. “You are God, aren’t you?”
His question knocked you back into reality. How did he know?! Your face filled with disbelief, and you pushed ‘Lukas’ away in shock. “Your face shows disbelief, and I… don’t want to believe it either, but the moment I saw you, I just knew… that you are God.” Lukas replied quietly, as if to soothe you. You smiled gently, and a wave of nostalgia hit you. He was always so caring… “To answer your question is not against a law of fate. I am God. You thought God would be a man, wouldn’t you?”
Seeing that you cheered up, albeit with tears in your eyes, ‘Lukas’ let out a sigh, gesturing that you sit on another chair, and sat on the ground. You picked him up, and set him down on a chair anyway. “I never knew God is such a nice woman…My name is Lukas Bondevik, if you don’t already know it…” He looked away, with a small blush on his face.
“Lukas, you’re probably wondering why I noticed you out of all the humans in this world.” You looked at him with sincerity, and Lukas nodded, showing that he wanted you to continue. You sighed and said, “Well, that’s because, you’re my best friend in your last reincarnation as well…”
You turned around to see Lukas’ face, expecting to see his blank stare, but was met with curious lapis lazuli eyes. “So people actually reincarnate… What was I like in my last reincarnation?” You replied, “Just like you are now, except for the fact that you were a prince… but the attitude of yours is still the same…”
“To know that God is just like a human… is rather shocking…” Lukas’ voice went down to a whisper. “That’s what you say every single time you meet me in every single lifetime.” You added. “Oh Lukas? Your clothes got dirty. Bring it here-” You got cut off as Lukas hugged you again. “It is a blessing to meet you… God.” Lukas’ warm embrace made you blush, and you replied quietly, “Lukas… just call me (your name). It’s fine. In your past lives, you called me (your name) too.”
Helping Lukas take off his clothes, you muttered a few words, and returned the clothes to its clean state. You handed them back to Lukas, who quickly put them on, because he was embarrassed to see you look at him half-naked. You caught a glimpse of his body, and it was uninjured, making you feel relieved.
As Lukas is looking at the clock, you realize that it is midnight, and that you should go back to the heavens. “Lukas, if you need me… call, alright? I am your friend, after all…” Opening his window, you flew toward the clouds, leaving Lukas staring out of the window after you.
*Norway POV*
What should I do? I just met God. A God as my best friend. A God as my love- I can’t fall in love with her. She’s been here for so long, waiting for me to reincarnate again and again… as her best friend. I don’t understand why my heart constricts the moment she cries. Even her divine voice rings in my ears…
I sighed, looking at her fly towards the heavens. Maybe one day… I will be able to soar towards the blue skies like she-
“Oi Lukas!! Who was that beautiful chick?” Another problem to deal with. I could never understand the fool named Mathias Køhler. “It’s none of your business.” I replied with my monotone voice, and walked towards my bedroom, with the fool bouncing behind me. “Tell me! Tell me, Lukas! I wanna know who the chick is!” I pulled down on the fool’s necktie in an attempt to stop him from talking, and ran towards my bedroom and locked the door.
Why does he never get bored from bothering me?
*Normal POV*
You giggled, seeing that Mathias, Lukas’ friend in all his reincarnations always seemed to bother him. Well, the law of fate does say that people with intertwined fates will be reborn together and stay together… Lukas’ friends were always Mathias, Tino, and Berwald. Well, Lukas always stays with his brother Emil too… You always watched all of them staying together, and wished that you were always next to Lukas too.
*The next day, in the Nordics house*
“Lukas, I heard from Mark that you were with a girl-“ Lukas turned his head around quickly to face Tino. Tino usually is the last person to talk to him about this… “Tino… please don’t ask me anything about it. The fool was interrogating me last night."
Tino merely smiled in return, and did not try to bother Lukas. Berwald also came into the room, with his usual stoic expression. He poured himself a cup of coffee, and another for Lukas. Thanking Berwald, Lukas sipped the hot coffee, and as the bitter liquid went down his throat, he looked at the clouds, thinking of you.
“Seems like someone’s thinking of the beautiful chick!”…And the mood always gets ruined by the fool. Lukas growled, and pulled down on Mathias’ tie, choking Mathias nearly to death. Tino just laughed, and helped out Mathias with his necktie situation. Coughing, Mathias grinned like the fool he was, and said, “The King of Northern Europe’s going to school! See ya suck-“ Before finishing the sentence, he faced a death glare from Berwald, and changed his sentence, “I mean, see you everyone!” And with that, Mathias rushed out of the door, greeting his friends, Alfred and Gilbert, who were waiting for him outside.
Lukas sighed. The fool. Picking up his backpack, Lukas mumbled a quick goodbye to Berwald and Tino, and walked to school.
*In heaven*
“I can’t stand waiting for Lukas anymore. Maybe I should go down to Earth to see how things are…” Mumbling to yourself, you flew from the heavens gently, and landed on the roof on one of the buildings inside Lukas’ school, coming face to face with a man with blond hair and shining green eyes… and caterpillar eyebrows. You giggled, seeing his eyebrows, and the man seemed offended, just like someone you knew in the past. Just like Arthur Kirkland when you first met him.
“Miss, you should never laugh at a man. It is unbecoming of a lady.” The man had a British accent. You were surprised that this man could even see you at all… “Forgive my rudeness, God, but I cannot stand a lady laughing at my eyebrows.” And apparently, he also knew that you were God. “Human, what is your name? Why do you know of my true self?” You regained your composure after your surprise, and glared at him, fearing that he would tell the world of your existence.
“My apologies for my impertinence, divine God, but I come from a line of mystics and powerful sorcerers. My name is Arthur Kirkland.” That name… You nodded, and assumed your “human” posture. “Arthur, so even you have been reborn! I am so happy!” You hugged him, much to his surprise, turning him beet-red. “My divine All-Knowing God… I-“ You grinned, “Yeah?” Turning his red face from looking at you in the eyes, he quietly whispered, “Please let go of me…”
After realizing that your immense strength might have hurt him, you quickly let go of his body, and scanned it to make sure that he wasn’t hurt. “I’m sorry, I tend to do that to people I meet again after a few…years.” You replied quickly. Arthur, with his face still red from embarrassment (to your cluelessness), uttered a few inaudible words. You assumed then that he was fine, and said, “Arthur, back then, you were one of my best friends. Sorry for forgetting that you don’t remember.” You flinched at your own words, and looked at Arthur.
“It’s fine, God. I… am merely shocked to see such a friendly God…” Arthur whispered, still trying to catch his breath from being hugged by a God (who does not know her own strength). “It’s fine to call me (your name), Arthur. I’m off to find Lukas. See you later!” With those words, you jumped from the branches, on to the ground, running towards the entrance of the school to wait for Lukas.
“Lukas… I never knew…” Arthur muttered to himself, watching you sprinting towards the entrance.
You froze time, and ran around, scanning the crowds to find Lukas. After seeing Lukas, you unfroze the time, and walked towards him. “Hey, (your name). How are you?” Lukas greeted you quietly, and ‘the fool’ behind him gaped at you, as if you were some strange creature. You ignored Mathias, and continued to talk to Lukas. “I’m good, Lukas. How was your day?” You smiled.
“Oh, so you’re (your name)! Can you be my girlfriend?” Mathias interrupted the both of you, and Lukas turned around to glare at Mathias. “You must be Mathias. I’m (your name), and I want to walk home together with you guys, if you don’t mind?” You smiled gently, thinking of the old times. Even back then, Mathias always ends up asking you out the first time he meets you.
“Oh, I don’t mind. Let’s go, (your name). We’ll just leave the fool here alone.” Lukas tugged on Mathias’ tie, and runs for it, dragging you along with him by your wrist. You caught up with him, and decided to fly him onto his balcony. Lukas gasped in amazement as your feet and his feet floated off the ground. Wind rushed past the two of you as you ran in the air, without being seen by people below you. The cool breeze gave you more power, and you drifted in the blue skies, along with your beloved Lukas.
Lukas was not even looking at the beautiful skies he was soaring in, but looked at you, with your (hair length and hair color) hair trailing in the wind. Your sparkling (eye color) eyes were shining with excitement. You turned around to face him, and cocked your head to one side. “You need anything, Lukas?”
Lukas snapped out of his thoughts and said to you, “Um, (your name), we’re here.” You stopped flying, and gently held Lukas, floating down onto the balcony. “Thanks, (your name)… To think that flying is this thrilling…” You let go of Lukas’ hand, and walked into his living room with him.
*That night*
After spending so much time playing with Lukas, Tino and Berwald, you decided to go back to heaven. “Thanks for spending some time with me, (your name). I know you have much to do as God… but you know…” Lukas trailed off, but you grinned in reply. “It’s good. More than a god, I am your friend, aren’t I?” You heart clenched at your own words. Lukas meant much more than a friend and you knew it, but gods aren’t allowed to fall in love with their own creations aren’t they?
“I’ll see you later then, (your name).” Lukas smiled, but his usual dark blue eyes contained sadness in them. You could look into his heart and know what he is sad about, but you would rather not find out. “I’ll see you soon, Lukas.” You hopped down from the balcony. Without being noticed by you, Lukas still looked after you with sad eyes.
You walked down the road, and spotted Lukas’ younger brother, Emil. Emil seemed to be struggling with his bags of groceries, and with Mr. Puffin on his shoulders. You decided to go in and help him carry the grocery. “Hey, um, are you Emil, Lukas’ younger brother? I can help you with those groceries, if you don’t mind…” You called out to Emil, who turned around to see you with a shocked face.
He quickly regained his composure, and replied quietly, "It's fine... See you later, (your name)."
After Emil ran off with his heavy bags, you realized one disturbing thing. How did Emil ever know your name?
