Mathias turned away sadly. “I don’t want to seal you, Mathias! I can’t do that. I’m not cruel enough.” Even Berwald looked concerned. “I agree with (name). We’ll make you forget this ever happened. That way, you can still be with us. ” Lukas said quietly. Mathias glanced at you, and you nodded.

“If that is your wish, then I will follow it.” Mathias knelt on the ground. You summoned Emil, who reappeared to help you with Mathias' memory washing. As the magic circle appeared, Mathias is bathed in a soft blue light. “(name)… I’m sorry. Life has always been so unjust...” As the light grew in intensity, you saw Mathias’ tears run down his face, as he fell into momentary sleep.

“I’m sorry too, Mathias. We all had an unjust life...” You replied sadly to the unconscious kneeling Dane. “Well, let’s all go back to heaven.” you proposed, and everyone agreed.
Opening up a portal, Berwald carried Mathais on his back, and walked solemnly through the portal, whilst all of you followed suit.

*In heaven*

Walking out of the portal, you, Lukas, Berwald, and Emil sat down on the floor from exhaustion. Arthur and Tino hurried over, and examined your injuries along with everybody else’s. Mathias stayed unconscious, and you still looked at him forlornly. One of your best friends just tried to kill you. Your creation with Lukas was nearly destroyed…

Looking over the edge of the clouds, you saw that the small town where Lukas lived in looked like it had been through an apocalypse. Sighing, you stood up. Lukas came and held your hand, and the both of you closed your eyes. As everybody gaped with wonder, lights filled the sunset sky. Blue and green spiraled gracefully, touching the earth, and the town rebuilt itself, looking better than it ever did. Creating a vortex of colors, you scattered it across the earth, fixing it.

As the two of you finished, it was time for Emil and Tino to do their jobs. Moving forward and muttering a spell, Emil covered the town with a fog-like purple mist, wiping out the memories of the humans that stayed in the town, whilst Tino threw clouds of yellow glitter, healing the people.

Looking at the rebuilt earth, you smiled. The sense of tranquility overflows you, and you felt relieved. Looking up at the stars, you thought of the rest of your people.

Lukas seemed to know what you were thinking of. Putting an arm around you, Lukas said, “(name)… someday they will return.”
You looked at Lukas, and smiled at him. “I want to call them here first, and then I’ll ask them to make their decision.” Nodding and giving his consent, you closed your eyes, you summoned your people up into the sky, on the clouds. “Where am I?” “Who are these people?” “Why is she smiling at us?”

Hearing the loud murmurings and chatter, you held your hand into the air, and your people became quiet. “Thank you, everyone. We have something to confess to all of you. We are the ruler of gods, and you are my people. In other words… you are also gods.”

After the small confession, everyone panicked, and looked around, scared. “My people, there is no need to be scared. We are here to ask you an important question. After that, you can decide.” The noise died down again, and Lukas spoke up. “My people, we are here to ask you… Do you want to remain human? Or return to be with us?” Seeing the confused eyes of your people, you signaled Emil.

Stepping forward, Emil said to them, “I will return your memories.” Finishing the sentence, Emil showered the crowds with a purple mist, and as your people breathed in the mist, their memories returned, adding confusion and excitement to their expressions. Looking at each other, every one of them kneeled before you in unison.

“Be at ease, my friends. We see that your memories have returned.” Hearing the sound of your voice, your people relaxed, and you looked at them. “Now we shall ask you… Do you want to stay as gods? Or as humans?”

Every one of them launched into discussion over their future, as you and Lukas waited patiently. You were not always good at public speeches, but with Lukas by your side, you knew that you weren’t alone anymore. You no longer have to face anything alone.

All the former gods stood up, showing that they have made their decision. You looked at them, and said, “We see you have made your decisions. Please, enlighten us.”

Every one of them gazed at you, and replied, “Your Majesty… We want to stay human for the last time. We want to come back after our lives are over.” Their decision surprised you and Lukas. Seeing that you face held confusion, they continued, “We can no longer leave you, your majesty. You have sacrificed much for our happiness, and now it is time for us to return to where we belong. With you. We just want a little more time to say farewell to the human lives we’ve had...” Tears clouded your eyes, as you glanced at Lukas, who also had tears in his eyes. “My people… we shall grant your wish!"

The people rejoiced, and you saw Arthur standing with Alfred and Allistor, whilst Tino cheering with Eduard and Raivis. Natalya still ran around trying to catch Ivan, and Yekaterina beamed at you. Hearing the hubbub, Mathias woke up in time to see his friends in Heaven. Mathias greeted and joked with Gilbert and Alfred, grinning, as if nothing ever happened.
“I’m happy he didn’t remember anything. It’s better this way… right, Lukas?” Lukas nodded in reply.

Seeing you walk through the crowds with Lukas, everyone quieted down. You wore a delighted expression.

“Everyone… As long as you are happy, we are happy.” Looking around, you see expectant faces. You see that Feliciano waved at you and Ludwig nearly smothered him in return, and scolded him for disrespecting you, whilst Kiku bowed. You chuckled. “There is no need for so much formality… But never mind.”

Facing everyone, you held Lukas’ hand. “We…no, I. I have something to say to all of you.” Everyone’s attention went straight to you, surprised that you did not use ‘we’. All you heard was the wind surrounding you. “I was alone in the heavens once. I felt as if sacrificing my happiness was the way you will be happy. I felt that life was unjust. Why should my people have happiness when I can’t? ” Glancing at each face in the crowds, you continued. “But I was wrong. What I thought of as a sacrifice… wasn’t one at all. Happiness can only be attained by those who wished to be happy."

“I was blind to that fact, and I lamented the day I let all of you go, blaming all of you, saying that you were the source of my misery. But now that I see all of you… My wish for happiness has been granted. It has always been here with me all along. You have always been with me. I was the one who didn’t reach for happiness, but you did. I thank you all… for wanting to be here with me.” Hearing your heartfelt speech, your people stayed silent.

“Know that Lukas and I will always be here for you, my people.” As you finished your speech everyone clapped and cheered, whilst Francis noticed that you held hands with Lukas. As the crowd died down, Francis spoke up. “My queen?” You faced Francis, who then continued, “Are you in love with His Majesty?” Both of you blushed, and the crowd cheered once more. Even the ever stoic Berwald and Ludwig smiled, and Emil glanced at his brother, only to see that his usual face was colored red with embarrassment. Even the crabby Romano fist pumped the air, and Feliciano jumped and cheered relentlessly.

Clearing his throat, Lukas attempted to take back his peoples’ attention. “We shall celebrate this next time you come back… Until then, my subjects!” You waved at everyone, who shouted farewell to you and Lukas. “We shall wait for your return!” Grinning at your people (something you never did), you teleported them back to their places in the world. As your people left, you stared at the empty space.

Knowing that you somehow felt lonely, everyone crowded around you. “We’ll just have to wait… (name).” Looking up, you saw Lukas holding you, Emil and Arthur smiling, Berwald trying to cuddle Tino, and Mathias, who had just got his memories wiped, was grinning like an idiot at Lukas. “Everyone, thank you. I will see you tomorrow morning! Good night, and welcome back!” Everyone bowed, and flew back to their rooms.

It’s been a long day…
Immersing yourself in the hot spring water, you winced as the wound you received from Mathias started to heal. Feeling that the wound has closed, you sighed, relaxing your tense body. Since the water has fast healing abilities, you remained in the water, leaving the small scratches to heal up as well. Getting out of the spring, you doused yourself with cold water, and snapped your fingers. The towels automatically dried you, and your clothes put themselves onto you.

Walking back into your room, you heard footsteps behind you. Turning around, you saw nothing. “Lukas, you know that wouldn’t work on me, right?” As Lukas appeared out of thin air, you sighed. “I’m sorry, Lukas. I’m very tired, and I want to take a very long sleep.” Continuing to walk, you felt Lukas stopping you with his hand gripping your wrist.

“(name)… I-“ Seeing that Lukas still has multiple injuries from the time he fought Mathias, you pushed Lukas into your bedroom, and right in to the bathroom with his clothes still on. Summoning the water, you sprayed water at Lukas, who slipped on the floor, trying to flee from the cold water. “Woah!” Trying to grab onto something, Lukas managed to get hold off your hand, and accidentally pulled you down on top of him. You stopped the stream of cold water, ended up soaked, and a few centimeters away from Lukas’ face.

Both of your faces flushed crimson, but you came to your senses, scrambling off of Lukas’ body. Who would have thought that Lukas actually had a pretty nice body? “I’m so sorry, Lukas! I just wanted your wounds to heal! I didn’t mean to-“ Stuttering, you helped Lukas to his feet, and Lukas laughed.

You were very confused. Lukas’ body is wet, you’re soaked to the bone, and now he’s laughing? Lukas hardly breaks his cool charisma and character… Lukas wiped away his tears, trying hard not to burst into laughter again.

“You’re so cute!” Petting your head, Lukas still had an amused expression, something very rare to see. “(name), wait outside. I’ll take a dip.” You raised your eyebrow in suspicion, but Lukas insisted, “It’s fine. Go on.” Sighing, you sat in front of the door of the bathroom. “That Lukas.” You mumbled, trying to comprehend Lukas’ actions. At least he’s here with me now…

*Lukas POV*

I peeled the wet clothing off, and stepped into the water. The calming effect made me close my eyes and lean back, thinking about my past. Why must (name) be so cute? I always tried and tried to be so emotionless, and no one managed to crack it. I always got rid of them, hoping that would make me a better king, a person who can make decisions that are best for his people. I created walls around myself, so that no one, not even (name), would be able to come in.

But (name)… she broke it so easily… as if the walls I forged around myself were made of paper. I loved her even before I became human. Even as a human, she waited for me, and still loved me… But now I remember my reasons for abandoning her. Going down to earth to become a human… 20 times. I knew that on the 20th time she would come for me. Life is no longer unjust.

And I still have something to give her.

*Normal POV*

“(name)… I want to tell you my reason for leaving heaven that day.” Hearing Lukas’ voice from the bathroom, your ears perked. “Please… tell me then. I want…no, need to know.” You replied, and Lukas said, “Do you remember the day we created earth?” Hearing you stay silent, he knew that you were still listening. “That day, I accidentally dropped the ring onto earth.” You gasped. The ring Lukas mentioned was a very special ring.

When gods came into existence, they come with a ring, and the shapes and sizes are different for each god. This ring is, by tradition, given to the person the ring owner wants to marry. However, the ring contains the souls of the gods, and this ring cannot be destroyed by humans or other gods except for the ring owner, or the person betrothed to the ring owner. Nevertheless, it can lead to the destruction of the earth and in Lukas’ case, the heavens and the earth. These rings are known among gods as “The Tear of Enchantment”.

“I knew that you would panic over this, as you know, you can’t use magic to retrieve this ring.” You were still speechless. Lukas kept this a secret from you, knowing you would risk your life to get it. “The only way was for me to become human and retrieve it. I also knew that in my 20th reincarnation I would find it.” Lukas opened the door, dressed, and you stood up to face him.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I thought you hated me! I thought… you left me… because you couldn’t stand my selfishness…” You sobbed, tears streaming down your face. Lukas embraced you, stroking your head. “I’m sorry (name). I couldn’t let you do it.” And you knew that what Lukas said was true. You knew you would go down to find that ring, despite the dangers.

“If I was stronger…” you wailed, and Lukas set you down on your bed, and kissed your forehead. He knelt down, and took out the Tear of Enchantment. “(name), I loved you even before I became a human. I was a coward, but you still loved me, and waited for me. I won’t ask you to forgive me, but I will ask you… Will you stay with me until the end of time?”

You got down from your bed and kissed him passionately, Lukas fell on his back, but he didn’t care. You were in his arms, and that was all he needed to be happy. Pulling apart, you stayed on Lukas’ body, looking into his sparkling dark blue eyes that radiated happiness. “I suppose… that’s a yes?” You smirked, and replied, “Is that not obvious?”

“OF COURSE IT WAS!!” “You bloody fool! You’ve blown our cover!” Hearing several noises, you opened your bedroom door, only to have Arthur, Emil, and Mathias falling down to the floor, whilst Tino and Berwald looked at you apologetically. “Oh… I never knew you guys wanted punishment on your first day back, hmm?” Both you and Lukas stood up, with both your bodies enveloped in a purple-bluish aura. “Oh you stupid- Forget it. Let’s run!!” Berwald dragged Mathias back to his room, whilst Emil and Arthur just ran.

“So… Tino, do you need something?” Your voice still stayed in the evil mode, and even the calm Tino was starting to lose his cool. “Um, (name), here’s your engagement present from me! Good night!” Closing the door, Tino also ran.

You and Lukas were both left sighing and face-palming in your bedroom. “No use thinking about it. They were going to know sooner or later anyway…” Lukas muttered in an attempt to calm himself. You opened the present, and saw a tiny sculpture of you and Lukas holding a present in front of a Christmas tree. Gasping at the beauty of the hand crafted gift, you called Lukas out of his thoughts, “Lukas, look at this! It’s so beautiful!”

Lukas inspected the tiny sculptures and smiled gently. “I’ll put it in our dining hall.” You smiled. Good days are coming back, and you felt that you will no longer have days where you felt life was unjust, or days filled with sadness. This is the start of a new beginning.

“Lukas, stay with me tonight.” Lukas was surprised by the request, but got into bed with you anyway. You yawned, and you closed your eyes. “(name)?” “Yes, Lukas?” you answered drowsily. “Jeg elsker deg, (name). Don’t forget that.” You held his hand, and gave Lukas a gentle kiss on the lips, and replied, “Jeg elsker deg også, Lukas. Jeg vil elske deg til slutten av tid. (I will love you until the end of time).”
