Description
This took forever to finish.A series of practice drawings for my version of werewolves. I know werewolves may be a silly obsession, but they have really motivated me to improve how I draw humans.
The great thing about wolves is that they display so much variety, just like people. I like trying to match my human character designs as closely as possible with different subspecies, but I can also mix up some more unusual colors or markings as well.
Am I the only one who likes drawing old people? I love lined faces, so I have a hard time drawing women and children. Iβd rather draw an older man with wrinkles than try to draw a young, sexy looking woman.

Thanks. Wish I could see more stuff like this in movies.

I've always kind of wanted a movie werewolf to resemble the actor who plays it in human form - not even overtly, but subtly - instead of being just a generic monster.

Fantastic. I love how the expressions mirror in each pair, even though the structure of the face has changed.

Know I've said this before, but thank you for having such diverse characters OMG not all werewolves are buff young dudes and sexy ladies??? Makes it more interesting

Thanks.
Yeah, my average character age is somewhere around 30, and several are much older. Youth is overrated.

Hmmm... I'm not quite seeing the link between the human forms and wolf forms for 1, 2 and the last one... (Hair colour not quite consistent with fur colour?) However 3,4 and 5 are matching, and the elderly is exceptionally nicely fitting

Thanks. I actually had the most trouble with 5. I could probably have done more with the wolf ears.
Some of them are kind of subtle. The idea is that in their wolf form they are more expressive than real wolves, but still limited anatomically as to how human their expressions can be. There has to be a mixture of human and animal body language. Also, I tried to match them more to a particular subspecies of wolf rather than making their hair/fur colors match.

Well, 5 looks innocent enough
Hmm, the girl is number two's expression doesn't quite match the emotion conveyed in wolf form, but I see what you mean. Usually colours and style kinda remain the same for werewolves if only because viewers can't really figure out who's turned into what.

It is supposed to be serious annoyance.
Human- angry scowl, shoulders hunched
Wolf- teeth bared but mouth not open, ears forward (not afraid of object of confrontation), eyes narrowed

Some great work there. I love the way you reflect the wide and colourful variety of human and wolf culture.

Thanks. I donβt want to be one of those people who only ever draw people who look like myself in skin tone or cultural background.

Looks great. I love the old 'squaw' you've got in the middle there, especially.

About 3/4, waiting to see if it would get any less weird.

Nope. Captain Beefheart never gets less weird. But he also never gets less amazing. Try this.

Sounds more like someone reciting a poem that I donβt understand than singing. Also rather funny that they used a dog peeing on stuff as the background video.

Captain Beefheart is one of my faves. But in that first song one of the lines was "She looks like an old squaw Indian, she 99 she won't go down..." That was why your picture made me think of it.

Yeah, I heard that line, I just had a hard time hearing some other lines or seeing how they were related to each other.
