Description
A redesign for one of my favorite monsters and my first monster movie! Godzilla 1998 AKA. Zilla! I changed his gills and made them look like biological armor plates, added a more armored appearance overall, give him a lot more spikes on the sides of the upper portion of the body and changed the skin textures from leathery (original 1998 design) to scaly. The scales took months to finish because I manually sculpted most of them instead of using ZBrush's alphas and other stencil tools. It was worth it though as using manual techniques can give a superior appearance compared to using ZBrush alphas most of the time.ZILLA © TOHO.

He was the first i got to know too! In that 1998 (?) not sure if this is the year, but that big Iguana like Zilla in New York! I even used to have some toys and i really liked the spiked gaint swiming dinosaur!

Yeah that's the year. I liked the series better than the movie though as it didn't involve Zilla Jr. getting killed.

The series is actually about Zilla Junior. He's the hatchling. They have a lot of cool monster designs in that series!

Fun fact zilla jr is acurate. Iguanas are very intelligent and can be tamed. By teacher has one and he can play. Iguanas can be tamed to fight like dogs.

Yeah... I blame Roland Emmerich for his BS. As an artist I feel like the design was wasted in that movie. It would've been better off as an original Kaiju IMO. unfortunately we can't do much now since it already happened
